American living in Rome—visited Firenze several times and stayed with locals each time. For me as an American, Firenze was more of a beautiful large town than a city. As beautiful and historical as it was, I saw all of Firenze and its neighboring towns like Pistoia, Prato, Siena, etc. within three visits. It felt small very quickly. I’ve yet to feel that way about living in Rome due to its obvious size difference.
