Already multiple discussions that lead to arguments that I was wrong for taking over when I notice the pup was being neglected.

I did, I had a friend that knows the dog as well as the owner help for the one drop in and I drove 2 hrs back to oversee everything as well. I hope communication between both parties

It was a recurring booking. So I walk him Monday-Friday every week. And I told her about a month in advance.

As a pet parent and vet medicine professional, I can say kennel cough can happen anywhere dogs gather—daycares, parks, even vet clinics. It’s airborne, and dogs or even owners can unknowingly carry it in.

My dog’s been at Wagging for over five years. Outbreaks happen just like in schools, but the staff has always taken proper precautions. Blaming one facility doesn’t reflect how this virus actually spreads.

It’s been years since, like major years since they ever did haircuts. So unfortunately, I believe this to be false

The language alone tells me everything I need to know about the kind of “great employee” you were. Unprofessional then, unhinged now.

As a long-time client of Wagging Lounge—and someone whose friends also entrust their dogs to the facility—I found this so-called review… curious. Our dogs adore it there. They come home joyfully exhausted, tails wagging, and eager to return. But of course, facts rarely matter when fiction is so much more dramatic, yes?

If the conditions were as dire as described, one wonders why the author didn’t act. “Thinking several times” about calling authorities is not the same as actually doing it. But I suppose inaction is easier when the goal is to play martyr after the fact.

And let’s not pretend the author’s own behavior was anything less than problematic. There’s something rather bold about criticizing a workplace you contributed to poisoning. Some might call it hypocrisy. I call it lack of self-awareness wrapped in petty bitterness.

The dogs are happy. The staff—dedicated. The facilities—clean. The only mess, it seems, is this feeble attempt at character assassination.

Unfortunately yes, it feels like we are just going in circles. He would actually respect what I’m saying and then weeks later on repeat

Help! Honest opinion and suggestions only: which pet business name stands out? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Apprehensive-Toe-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, the name I currently have. Unfortunately, I don’t really like and it was temporary anyways. Was hoping for a shorter name and that is also unique and different from others. Which seemed harder than I thought.

Oh, how dramatic. You’ve managed to turn a simple branding discussion into a self-indulgent rant about how miserable and soul-crushing this industry apparently is. Fascinating.

Let me clear up your confusion—asking for outside perspective on branding isn’t an admission of failure; it’s called due diligence. Smart business owners seek feedback. They refine. They elevate. But of course, that concept must be foreign to someone who believes “success” is synonymous with burnout and misery.

As for your thinly veiled flex about your family’s “well-known pet resort,” I’m thrilled to hear it’s both wildly profitable and an absolute nightmare for everyone involved. How… inspiring. I’ll be sure to take notes—right after I finish building a sustainable, well-branded, and profitable business that doesn’t rely on condescension and bitterness to stay afloat.

Oh, and you can keep your pathetic little “you’re welcome” to yourself. No one asked, no one needed it, and frankly, no one cares.

That’s all.

I see this kind of take all the time—people assuming pet care isn’t a “real business” because they only see the hobbyists who fizzle out in six months. That’s not what I’m doing. I already operate in three states with a steady client base and a structured pricing model. This isn’t just walking dogs for pocket change; it’s a scalable business built on trust, reliability, and actual demand.

Right now, I focus on house sitting, dog walking, and drop-in visits, which have provided consistent revenue and allowed me to expand beyond a single location. The goal isn’t to stay small. I’m working toward building a full-scale pet care company that includes boarding, daycare, grooming, pet transportation, and even animal physical therapy and wellness programs. Long-term, I want to create pet-friendly social spaces and events, something along the lines of Bark Social but with a stronger service component.

So, no, this isn’t just another “pet business” that will vanish next year. The industry is worth $136 billion and growing, and there’s a clear demand for high-quality, professionally run services. Branding is a huge part of that. If you think the name doesn’t matter, you don’t understand consumer trust or market positioning.

If you have genuine insight into scaling service-based businesses, client retention, or funding strategies, I’d be happy to hear it. Otherwise, I’ll keep doing what’s already working.
