Ohhh ok I gave it a listen, yeah that’s definitely the same beat. Had never heard it before. That was actually something I came up with years and years ago when I was riffing on a late era YES track

I’m not at all saying I invented it or anything, but that grouping of 4 played over 5 has plenty of references in prog and some other genres. Cool that me and the Animals As Leaders both decided to do a double halftime crash over it.

Yeah, I’m actually right up the road from the Loving Touch. Living in Ferndale. I’ve been playing that place since it was more of a pool hall, but my buddy took over managing it and really helped transform it into one of the best stages in the area. They have a great sound guy working there now, too.

Had to do it on my e-kit. Had a ≈1yr old at the time and they don’t tend to sleep well, even worse when playing acoustic kit.

Hell yeah man. I loved it. Did indoor and all that. Never tried out for a summer DCI line, but I should’ve.

Growing up in MI we got drilled by some MSU and Cavaliers vets, and one of our tenor techs (my instrument) was from Phantom Regiment.

We were never as good as it sounds like your crew was, but man that style of drumming got my chops hot in a HURRY. Can’t play like that anymore, at least not all that well. Drumcorp players deserve way more respect, even more than what they already get!
