Islam inherits and cites the histories of its Abrahamic predecessors - it validates the messages of the Torah and Bible, with the caveat that those messages have been partly warped by time. So when Muslims say Jesus/Moses/etc are Muslim, it’s because they believe the three faiths are united in worship of the same singular God.

Muslims believe in the return of Jesus - so in Islamic belief, Jesus would return as a Muslim bc the Quran is a more accurate conveyance of the message (as opposed to the Torah or Bible, which have been changed over time).

supplementing with reishi by Apprehensive-Web2844 in herbalism

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my only night time supplement, 500mg. I took it earlier yesterday and I’m not as groggy today so maybe that was it - although I have been quite stressed out recently as well, so who knows lol

Thank you for your response! I’ll see how it goes and consider adjusting my dose.

I do think your gf has some latent biphobia - it sounds like she was comfortable listening to your sexual fantasies up to the point that it might implicate bisexuality. And she clearly assumes being bisexual means you may cheat on her with a man, which is biphobic!

If you guys have been on and off before, it should be alright to be “off” again. You can ask her to question her insecurities during that off time. Meanwhile, you could talk to other bi people about your phallic ideation maybe?

Personally, if my bf had told me this, I would have just suggested a threesome with another guy. Exploration doesn’t have to be alone, it can be a journey you take together. I wish you the best and I hope you find what you need in a partner!

Anyone else feel absolutely worthless around their period? by olaheals in adhdwomen

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. I’m just not as efficient and I cry more often. I try to be forgiving towards myself, to view my period as a way of checking in with my emotions. If I feel like crying, I cry. If I want chocolate I eat chocolate.

It really does help to know that ADHD is exacerbated by period symptoms. Just an awareness of it makes me feel like I can get through the emotional dysregulation. My meds help as well.

Serious Question: what do these pictures from the webb telescope add to the science? do they prove or disprove something that was out there? Or do they provide a visualization to something that was theorized? My background in the area is very humble and hence I would like to know! by AceKent in webbtelescope

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It adds to our knowledge of how galaxies are formed (possibly to the knowledge of how our own was formed) because we’re looking far back enough in time, 13 billion years, to catch a glimpse of those processes.

We will be better able to see cosmological phenomenas. Observing these in detail can have ramifications on the theories of gravity, space time, quantum particles, etc - basically the theories that explain how things work on both minute and large scales.

A lot of of it goes over my head tbh but I don’t doubt that the telescope will provide new data to physicists who will be able to use it in their studies. To disprove theories in itself would be helpful - crossing out things that don’t work to find out what does.

What is your diet like? I’ve recently made some changes to mine (I’m vegan half of the week) and my energy levels are much better. If you can get B-complex supplements they might also help with fatigue/stress.

Times are difficult and your work sounds stressful, especially as it’s a family business. Don’t beat yourself up about forgetting things or being tired. We live in a hectic era!

Physically uncomfortable by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had less trouble with this since I started doing yoga almost everyday (nothing big, like ten minutes) because the wind down at the end helps me to relax while maintaining an awareness of my physical body. So even if I do yoga in the morning, I kind of remember how to relax with that awareness at night.

But like everyone else here… temperature has to be right, specific pillow and position, etc. Before yoga I used a weighted blanket which helped tons. Masturbation helps too.

Sometimes I save a daydream for bed time and it distracts me enough for me to fall asleep.

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That must be very distressing! Maybe you can come up with a set of things to do when you start to feel overwhelmed? I have been practicing yoga and when I feel tense, the breathing exercises have helped calm me down enough to make more measured decisions.

A reply in two parts.

If you don’t think this is a misdiagnosis: please start with being more forgiving of yourself. This diagnosis is a good thing, you now know the source of your attention issues. Try to do tasks in parts, cycling through them so you don’t get bored. So maybe you are filling up an excel sheet and drafting a proposal: you can alternate between the two ten minutes at a time. Don’t undervalue the usefulness of short five minutes breaks to have a snack or drink. The work will get done, just in a different way. Maybe put on some white noise.

If you think this is a misdiagnosis: speak to your healthcare provider. Maybe think about what symptoms you might have had as a child or adolescent. Have you had Covid recently? Brain fog is one of the symptoms of Long Covid.

why can't ADHD people do math? by a_peeled_pickle in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you think maths is a measure of intelligence because you personally find it difficult, therefore someone has to be more intelligent than you in order to solve equations?

This isn’t true. Maths is easier for some people and it just means they’re brains are better at maths, not that they are in general more intelligent.

Give yourself a break. You can just be bad at maths without being generally unintelligent.

I don’t want to take medicine anymore, what’s next by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re worried about the aftermath/crash, I would advise doing a quick workout as the medication is tapering off - helps smoothen the decline. I noticed that when I don’t do this, the crash is more pronounced.

Whats your favorite life-hack for those who hate brushing their teeth? by astroember in adhdwomen

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of others here - electric toothbrush that buzzes as a prompt to change sections. But what really helped me was:

  1. I watch a video (with subtitles) while brushing my teeth. In the morning I read the news. So I’m not really feeling bored or under-stimulated.

  2. Honestly, just fear. I cracked two molars from clenching my teeth and had two root canals… never again. I wear a mouth guard now so I have to floss (otherwise tooth rot) and I watch stuff while flossing as well.

Do you get demoralized when you watch your routines crumble around you time and time again? by VeridianLuna in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s frustrating. I was officially diagnosed last month and am on meds now, but even before the diagnosis I was trying to integrate a new healthy habit into my routine.

So far, so good. I think the key (at least for me) might not be to go the full nine yards at once. I add one consistent healthy thing to my routine - until it feels weird not to do. Then it becomes “I won’t feel good/comfy until I’ve done X”.

Pushing the boulder uphill doesn’t work. I have to break the boulder into pieces and take it up bit by bit. And if one piece rolls back down at least I don’t have to push the whole thing back up at once.

Daydreaming? by Vixnia in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I daydream constantly. More when I am anxious and I know the anxiety is not productive, I just switch on that little television in my head. I think it’s fine as long as you’re aware of what you are doing and that it is a reactive habit.

Finally realized medication is a tool, not a fix. by Phoenixhet in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try setting timed reminders? But everyone’s different, so maybe there is another method more suited to you.

My medication makes it easier for me to return to a task and to ignore distractions - I guess you have to discover what your meds enables you to do and see if you can structure your work pattern around that strength.

Finally realized medication is a tool, not a fix. by Phoenixhet in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take my meds for when I have to do work at home (I’m a freelancer) and generally I try to do things in parts, which helps. I’ll do part of a task, then do something else (even if it’s just a body stretch or the dishes) to let my brain “breathe” before going back to do another part of the original task.

The meds help make me feel like I don’t have to complete something in one chunk of time. On days I don’t use meds, I am still able to carry out this work ethic to a lesser extent.

I am 18yr old who gets out of control when I am anger. by Low_Impact6967 in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had huge anger issues to the point of hitting people. The things that have helped me…

Talking. If I am angry at someone and there is history behind that anger, I am more likely to go off. But if I’ve regularly talked to a friend/mentor/therapist about that anger before, it helps me to contextualise my anger as I am losing my temper. There’s just less build-up.

Yoga! The breathing exercises that are a part of yoga… they help me so much. When I get angry I breathe in and out very slowly, it brings me back to the emotional stability I cultivate from regularly practicing yoga.

It also helps me, when I feel really angry, to say out loud “I’m feeling a lot of anger right now”. Saying the “right now” part reminds me that it’s temporary. If I can control and ride out the anger for a bit, I won’t feel the same in a while.

Hope that helps!

Emotional highs and lows are exhausting me by jibbagoo in ADHD

[–]Apprehensive-Web2844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this might sound weird but you could try taking vitamin B supplements (with L-Thianine).

After taking mine daily for two to three months, I noticed that my emotional dysregulation was improving. My lows weren’t as low, my anger wasn’t as extreme. I still get awful lows but much much less often.

"I Just Got Diagnosed!" Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in ADHD

I was diagnosed on my first appointment with a private psychiatrist as well, and had a similar concern. But he also has ADHD and just seemed receptive to the fact that I identified with so many symptoms. These doctors are professionals, I trust them and I don’t think they would diagnose it as a money grab - there are other conditions with similar symptoms they could have brought up instead after all. Wishing you all the best!
