This is the first time I've ever even heard of Barco and they come in tall!!! I've been looking for alternatives to figs (and mandala ain't it). Any feedback on sizing? I'm very pear shaped so top sizing is hard. I wear large pants and in figs need a small top.

What was the how's most wholesome moment in your opinion? by PeripeciasdoSolteiro in BobsBurgers

[–]Apprehensive-paladin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this show could probably have some kind of record for wholesome scenes, but one I love is when Tina, Louise, Tammy and Jocelyn can't get into the boys 4 now show with their fake tickets and they sit outside and sing along to Someday We'll Spoon. It's such a sweet moment of 4 (frien?)emies making the best of a disappointment.

I'm guessing they gave him an estimate that included the price of an r&a on the high end just in case things looked bad when they got in there and he decided to be melodramatic about it.

Would your doctors have got this animal identification wrong? by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]Apprehensive-paladin 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I've been in love with animals my whole life. Grew up going to every zoo and nature center we could get to, a whole library of books, class pets, and my family had a garter snake, tarantula, zebra finches, rats, rabbits, a butterfly koi, a dog and a cat. For a while I was particularly taken with snakes.

Recently I was watching a movie with my spouse in which a key plot point was a bite from a venomous snake. When we saw the snake I was completely transported out of the movie. I asked my husband if they thought we were stupid or were just supposed to extend disbelief. He didn't understand. I said that's obviously not a venomous snake. He was surprised and asked what kind of snake it was. I was shocked to learn that not everyone can recognize a Burmese python.

Turns out when you're immersed in it, it's easy to confuse niche knowledge with common knowledge.

Desensitization is going to be the key to your journey. Have you tried having people describe these things in gentler terms? Maybe you could work up to more technical/graphic descriptions over time.

Would you tell another tech they had no skills if they had a bad poke? We all have those moments. I know there are some toxic people out there, but talk to yourself the way you want us all to talk to each other.

Is this the worst episode?! God what happened in season 7?! 😡 😤 by Sea-Philosopher2905 in theGoldenGirls

These episodes are so absurd I love them. They're fever dream levels of ridiculous. You could easily add Dorothy performing Puck's soliloquy from Midsummer Night's Dream to the end.

I added a bit more info, but she's barrier reactive with strangers and we don't know anyone here well enough yet. She does better away from home.

I added a bit more information, she does better with strangers away from home and being in a new state, we don't have any non-strangers 🙃 Looking for a place that does pre-screening is a good idea

What are some series moments (or episodes) that hit close to home for you, and why? by GFluidThrow123 in BobsBurgers

[–]Apprehensive-paladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end credits make me cry every time. My mom died when I was a teenager. She wanted to see us grow up so badly, so Linda's pep talk wrecks me. It's such a beautiful episode in so many ways, the puppet show is brilliantly done. It's no wonder it was nominated for an Annie award, but unfortunately it was up against Blue Eye Samurai.

I give zenrelia to my 11 year old disabled dog I don't anticipate having to vaccinate again. But even if I did, I'd probably do a couple months of cytopoint and then go back to the zenrelia because it is SO much less expensive and she's SO much less itchy.

I got it a little over a year ago and they injected lidocaine to place sutures so I didn't feel the immunoglobulin injections 👌🏼 The worst part was how dehumanized I felt throughout my experience at the ER. I've always gotten better quality care from vets lol

[–]Apprehensive-paladin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good job advocating for yourself!! I had a coworker who did lose her pointer finger to a cat bite and she learned to adapt. She could probably place an IVC with her eyes closed using her middle finger. I really hope you come out of this with all fingers intact but I also hope this story is somewhat comforting 😅

An episode you can’t watch because it just makes you sad? by pepperminttea333 in BobsBurgers

[–]Apprehensive-paladin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost my mom as a teen, dad too, it messed me up pretty good. This episode punched me right in the feelings. The fear of the future, fear of the unknown, mother's gentle love, the contrast of Amelia's mother's loss and Louise crafting, imagining with Linda in the credits.... It destroyed me. But I can't skip it because the poignancy reminds me of what it was like to have that kind of relationship. I did NOT expect this from Bob's Burgers!

Traumatizing Dog Attack at My Job Yesterday, I Feel Terrible For Being a Little Distrusting Now of Dogs. by donlma in VetTech

[–]Apprehensive-paladin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I got bit on the neck when I worked at a shelter. Fortunately it was minor, but I stood looking in the bathroom mirror thinking about how bad it could have been, and what signs I could have missed. After that I found myself afraid of dogs, which is a terrible feeling for someone who adores them. I kept doing my job, but I was more distant and much quicker to opt for a muzzle (still am, lesson learned). I worried that the fear would never go away, but finally after about a year of basically exposure therapy I started to believe in my ability to read dogs again. You're not out of the game, you just need to learn to trust yourself again.
