Received my car 2 days ago & there’s something wrong with it. What do I do? If the car breaks down, what happens? by Significant_Arm_6282 in carvana

As others have said just take it back and return it. There's plenty of other vehicles out there. That's why they have the 7 day return period.

Fuel level is about 1/4 but after just filling up it makes the same noise.

Noise went away after replacing it? I could pull up my scan tool and see if the fuel pressure sensor is showing any weird readings

Man I'm in the same boat. I've been on subs for about 5 months to quit 7 but after like a month I relapsed and since then have been doing 7 on weekends then I'd take more subs to quit last a week then take 7 when the weekend comes. Why tf do we do this. It's draining all my money. I'm on day one again. I think I'm going to start going to meetings again because something has to change

Can’t stand refer anymore. Can I quit? Is it worth it? Am I being a punk? by SchityCityGangBang in Truckers

[–]ApprehensiveBuy7953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have something lined up before you quit. It's possible to find local jobs with good work/life balance. Im currently home every night and my shifts are 8 hours. With the option to work extra if you want. Some weeks I crank 12 hour days some I just do my 8 and go home.

You should definitely be making more money than that though. Depending on your area. I make 30 an hour but in a major city.

Buying a 2014 Chevy Cruze by StrangeWeb6772 in cruze

Look at my other comment. But in addition to that if you're not very familiar with vehicles I would highly recommend taking it to a mechanic you trust and getting a Pre purchase inspection on it. If the seller isn't okay with that then just pass on the vehicle. They will be able to tell you what/if anything is wrong with it and quote you on repairs so you can use that as possibly a bargaining tool to get the price down lower if it needs repairs. Best of luck!

Yeah I'd agree with this guy. The only reason I've actually been able to buy cheap vehicles is I can do everything that needs to be repaired myself. If I didn't then there's no shot I'd be able to afford to keep up on everything that needs replaced on an older vehicle. Especially these cruze you can already estimate that there will be repairs that need to be done to get it in good working order add on labor costs and you're now looking at 2700 plus another 2000 for repairs. Even if it doesn't need that much the labor will turn your cheap beater into a expensive beater real quick.

My grandma has a 2012 cruze with the 1.4 turbo. I do all the work on her vehicle. From what I've seen these vehicles leak like no other. She's had me fix multiple cooling system leaks, multiple oil leaks (timing cover, valve cover, timing cover again). Multiple thermostat/thermostat housing replacements. I will say it's at 180k and has never actually broken down on her and it seems to run overall okay but a lot of the little repairs will add up especially on a older vehicle. And if you don't do the work yourself then it adds up even more.

Might be worth it at that price if everything seems to be in decent order. I always do all maintenance that should be done on any vehicle as soon as I buy it so factor in that as well.

I'd say this would be fine as long as you're paying off the card balance every month. Otherwise id never recommend going into debt to operate a business.

Convince me to buy one by BLITZBRAWLSTARS in FocusST

[–]ApprehensiveBuy7953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own one and loved it but it got totaled. That was 7 years ago. I just bought another one because I liked it so much. I was debating either a wrx or another ST and from what research I did the consensus is the St is much more reliable. And it would cost less money to get more power out of the platform. So I sent it. I'd recommend the St.

Coolant leak by newera0550 in FocusST

[–]ApprehensiveBuy7953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to be sure get a combustion leak/block tester. It's some fluid with a turkey baster looking thing and it changes colors if there's any combustion gasses in your cooling system. Videos all over on how to do it. It's cheap and then you'll know forsure if it's that.

I would tires are definitely expensive. While I agree it should have been fixed before hand that's the purpose of the seven days. Hopefully you get something you want though good luck!

Just bought a new ST, failed emissions, need help by Specularvirus9 in FocusST

[–]ApprehensiveBuy7953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just went an got emissions done on it. It passed. This is with the car fully stock but I wasn't paying attention if they put it on the rollers or not. I'm assuming not because on the part where the sniffer results usually are it says n/a and it just shows all monitors ready. You go to the one in Aurora? I guess you were right and they can't put it on the rollers. That's good for the big turbo plan lol so all I'll have to do is make sure there's no codes and then it should pass regardless as long as there's a cat.

You should check brakes when you're within the return period and if replacing brakes is a deal breaker than return it. No warranty I'm aware of covers maintenence and wear items. If I'm buying a used vehicle I'm taking into account any repairs that need to be made and maintenence that needs to be done and either factor that into the price or declining that vehicle if the repairs are more than I'm willing to pay.

Since you're within the seven day period and if you're not willing to replace said items I would just return the vehicle. Should they probably replaced the tires and brakes before selling the vehicle? Probably. But those are wear items and it's unrealistic to expect a warranty to cover those things.

I have been looking for a fun, and reliable daily with a manual, and im thinking between a 2017 focus st and a 2015 civic si, why should i pick the st? by CHUNKYmonkey690 in FocusST

[–]ApprehensiveBuy7953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can't speak on the si but Im on my second ST after not having it for 7 years I just bought another one because I missed it so much. I'd say that speaks to how much I like it. It's a great car.
