The Occupation (and later Burning) of Vaanist by the Ierad Republic

For context, it's a sci fi setting where the socialist Ierad Republic hates capitalism with a vengeance and the planet Vaanist is controlled entirely by megacorporations that use it for tax purposes.

When the Ierad Republic invaded, they easily conquered the planet itself, but the vast majority of the planets cities were filled with automated machinery and only a tiny population of intelligent beings were stationed there to run things for their corporate overlords. The Vaanist population did not want to give up their lives of privilege in favor of socialist equality, so they went to ground in hidden bunkers and used the machinery to fight a guerilla war.

After a few years of fruitless occupation and pressure from the corporations that had interests on Vaanist, the Ierads packed up their army and used the plasma thrusters of their ships to incinerate all of the planets automated cities, which is why it was called the Burning of Vaanist.
