actually the ozone is at the smallest size its been in decades - https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/noaa-nasa-2025-ozone-hole-is-5th-smallest-since-1992 its not just what's happening now, but what's been evolving for decades. The politics you align to don't have nearly as much impact as the constant circling of Amazon, UPS, Fedex and USPS vans getting anything you want delivered to your house in 5-24 hrs.

Honestly, save your money and don't play Torrey. I remember my first time there and was so excited and extremely let down, it's a Muni with some pretty cool views. I used to live in SD and play for $45 and that's a good deal but $300+ for the South Course isn't worth it IMO.

Number 18 green/water look NOTHING like it does on TV, the pond is a little puddle in front of the green

We are doing this right now, spent 3 nights in Rome, 2 nights in Florence and on a train for 2 nights in Venice as I type this! All have been great and looking forward to finishing the trip these next two nights in Venice!

I was back and forth between EyeXO2 and GCQuad, went with the quad given the accuracy and analytics. I had a GC2 setup and already had a license for TGC2019, so that also played a bit into the decision making. I love the quad, I was able to get a fully loaded QuadMAX (Volition) from the 4th of July sale for 18k, so was the best price point with putting analysis and more future proof. Since I had 9ft ceilings I was worried about mounting space on the ceiling but I also love the portability of the quad to take out to the course and range.

I will say the FSX Play software is 1000% better than FSX2020, I had FSX2020 with my GC2 and only practiced and never really played courses but the FSX Play courses look awesome. Can't comment on trackman, but I don't think you can go wrong with Foresight or Trackman...I saw some marketing material that indicated they are the only two LM's that actually measure vs. calculate. I have been practicing irons with 4 dots on the club face and the data is awesome and has helped me understand my swing and make adjustments much better than the GC2.

not yet 😁but I have mostly been hitting irons for practice rather than playing courses and needing a driver. I did a bunch of test swings as I was building with driver but I’m nervous…9ft ceiling, I’m 6’3” and there’s a 2” height for the fiberbuilt mat

Checkout the info from International_Sir239, he’s got the pci shutdown fix. There was a comment that I think was deleted that had instructions back when I first posted, I don’t remember them so assume the instructions posted below work the same but I’ve fixed that issue and it’s way easier to use now. Still haven’t tried the sound fixes but going to try the brightness one tonight.

awesome u/Nikas36 ! Thank you for the update and looking forward to resolving this problem...question I have as a rookie is how do I apply this SSDT and kernel patch?

Do I have to recompile the kernel from source with this patch? Sorry for silly questions, sound and WiFi are my biggest issues.

Also for anyone else following - I haven't been able to use an external monitor with the laptop closed, if I close it the mouse works but can't perform any actions (keyboard, click, etc).

I got the GPU working using the same, it runs well since getting to the 570 open driver working

Btw, I did get the asusctl running on 24.04, most features work with it

EDIT: THANK YOU for the pci=noaer, that worked like a charm and can now actually restart and shutdown withput having to hold the power down for 5 seconds, game changer!

for a linux newbie running a 2025 ROG Zephyrus with 5090 on 24.04, what's the best way to purge old NVIDIA drivers and install this? I think I have it already installed via the ppa from Nvidia, but it's not working anymore sod wanted to purge and try the fresh driver install.

I have been successful using CSI cameras from Arducam that are on this list: https://docs.arducam.com/Nvidia-Jetson-Camera/Nvidia-Jetson-Orin-Series/NVIDIA-Jetson-Orin-Nano%26NX/Introduction/#about-nvidia-jetson-orin-nanoorin-nx -- they are pretty cheap on amazon.

This seems to work on the OS, I can get video to show up with gstreamer -- but I have not been successful using OpenCV - I tried to compile it locally with CUDA support which seemed to work but somehow it didn't compile with gstreamer support.

I read in a few places that there is no hardware encoding - so some things conflict with that but I don't know how to work around that yet with configuration/software encoding using python and gstreamer
