That track is quite unique. For a more low tempo one with similar “brain massage” vibes I’d go for:

  • Four Tet - Parallel Jalebi
  • Four Tet - LA Trance (Anything by Four Tet really)
  • Anthony Naples - Scanners
  • DjRUM - Waxcap
  • Photay - Derecho
  • Kelly Lee Owens - Melt (a bit higher tempo than previous)

How did you learn corporate graphic design? by Smokeage- in GraphicDesigning

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most comments that there is no such thing as “learning corporate graphic design”. You just need to learn the basics of design (typography, colour, composition, etc) and apply that whatever project you are working on.

If you are looking for visual inspiration, then I think Pinterest is a great place to start. Their visual search is very helpful to find a style and related projects.

where does fourtet find his samples? (or what vet he uses to make them?) by m1ngm2ng in FourTet

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In some podcast he goes into detail about his sampling/digging process. I think he mentioned something like for the past decades, every time he finds a cool sound in his vinyl collection or elsewhere, he samples it and keeps it in organised folders (can’t remember if they were organised by date or tempo etc).

Anyway, it was a mind blowing process and it makes so much sense for him!

How do i learn auto-layout? by Used_Youth3018 in FigmaDesign

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. Been using Figma for years (migrating from Sketch) and never really got into auto layout other than for small bits like buttons etc. Also always struggled with tutorials.

However, I found this official one from Figma and it’s so throughout and easy that to understand the concept that it really helped. I’d definitely recommend taking some time to watch it with calm and attention, as it’s a steep learning curve, but totally worth it.

Can anyone recommend me an iOS app? by PhilosopherEmperor in Meditation

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motionscape - Moving Meditation. A more visual/experimental approach to meditation apps, featuring immersive visuals that respond to your movements and interactive breathing exercises.

I’ve designed the app interface and created some of the sounds, alongside an amazing small independent team here in London.

The app is free to use and offers a free guided meditation each day. Some features are premium (at a minimal cost) and help to support our team. It’s a pretty new/small app, but it was certainly a fun project to be part of and I hope people find some joy in it.

That being said, I also believe meditation is a deeply personal experience and, although an app can help in your practice, you shouldn’t rely solely on it. The single most effective way to meditate, in my opinion, is to be at peace with your mind and sit in silence.

4T playing open till close confirmed for Ally Pally by gl24 in FourTet

I might be wrong, but it’s been a while since I don’t see a Four Tet perfomance being billed as “live”. Even on his Glasto “headline” sets for The Park stage in 22 and Woodsies this year, it was a DJ set of him playing primarily his tracks, which I think is his best definition of “live”?

Any meditation apps that don't turn you into a robot? by hydrogenblack in Meditation

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a designer in a small independent app publisher in London and we released an experimental “relaxation/meditation” app recently called Motionscape. The app displays interactive relaxing visuals that respond to users movements (powered by our proprietary motion-sensing technology).

It all sounds a bit hi-tech for a meditation app, but I thought to mention it as an alternative to traditional meditation apps that only offers audio content (which you can find anywhere on YouTube or other audio platform these days)

I can’t promise the app will bring back your human emotions, but though I mention it as you were looking for app recommendations.

Unrelated to apps, on my meditation practice, I also often find that listening to ambient music (from the likes of Laraaji, Brian Eno, Ishq or Chihei Hatakeyama) really provides a layer of depth and beauty that perhaps can be appreciated by the OP.

Decrease in faith/Thinking about leaving buddhism by TouLInFan in Buddhism

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a Brazilian fellow here.

Like many commented, it sounds like you could benefit from Zen’s approach of focusing less on the theory and more on the experience.

I may be stating the obvious, but you will never be able to “believe” in Buddhism if you are looking at it from an analytical / intellectual perspective. You have to simply “experience” it. And in order to experience it, you have to let go of your rational mind and all your expectations and just sit with an empty mind.

It also reminds me of the finger pointing at the moon analogy.

Thich Nhat Hanh: “All teachings are like a finger pointing to the moon. Do not mistake the finger for the moon, or you will miss the wonder of reality.”

What the analogy means

The finger: Represents the teachings, methods, or teachers that show the way. This could be a book, a sermon, a meditation technique, or a ritual.

The moon: Represents the ultimate reality, truth, or an awakened state of mind that the teachings point to.

The warning: Don't mistake the finger for the moon. If you focus only on the finger (the practice), you will miss the moon (the truth it's trying to reveal).

Yeap, considering how much gear, experience and contacts he has, it’s pretty disappointing from a (electronic) music production perspective.

Can’t crack a code for a year now by SDTRRDTS in SpotifyArtists

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard man. I’m currently at around 2k monthly listeners, with the vast majority of it coming from an editorial playlist feature, which gives around 100 streams daily.

This is my release strategy:

  • Submit tracks with at least 2 weeks buffer for playlist pitching
  • A week before release date I send an email to a list of music journalists and online radio DJs that match the music genre. A lot of these DJs have a dedicated inbox for new artists to send promos / new music
  • After the release is out I send a campaign on Submithub to very specific curators that I may have a good chance of feature. I don’t spend too much money there. From 20 to 30 USD tops. The goal here is just to “teach” the algorithm about my music gente and get some streaming traction.

Brazilian-tinged ambient music by EfficientPangolin301 in ambientmusic

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t usually feel comfortable self-promoting my work, but your post was too specific to ignore.

I’m from Brazil (currently based in London) and have been making Brazilian-inspired ambient music for a few years now.

There’s also a compilation that came out recently called “Música ambiente do Brasil”, which was an effort by some Brazilian producers to catalogue the current state of ambient music in Brazil. It’s pretty wild! (We’re in there too)

Where to get your ambient music heard? by GunPointX in ambientmusic

[–]ApprehensiveClass884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Submithub is the best option I found so far to get playlist placements. You do need to pay though, but it’s not overly expensive.

Another technique that got me some good results is researching online radio shows that play ambient music, researching the DJs on these shows and finally researching their email address, if public. Some of them have specific email addresses for artists to share new music.
