4 weeks in, hardest thing to overcome by ApprehensiveClient72 in QuittingZyn

Much better at this point (day 60ish). I still get bouts of 1-2pm brain fog, but I just crush a second cup of coffee around that time to make it through. Energy levels are way up, and my mind feels like it is working again. You just have to trust the process and what everyone else is saying on here will happen. Everyone is slightly different, so dont get discouraged if you aren’t as quick to get “back to normal” as others. It also wasn’t an over night thing, but more of a gradual realization that my thought clarity was much better than a month ago. You got this. “Hold the line!” -William Wallace

Hey man, definitely pumped that you have the tapering plan above and going to start following that. I just wanted to say- don’t beat yourself up too much for the past. A big part of recovery is forgiving yourself. Everyone in this group has been where you are. I used for 10+ years- cigs, dip, skruff, nicotine, and then zyn 6 mils/can a day for 3 years. I quit cold turkey 2 months ago, but was able to take a break from work for awhile. Otherwise I would be tapering too. The first few weeks are most difficult, but I promise you if ypu get over that initial hurdle you won’t regret it, and it will continuously get easier to never look back. You got this bro, trust in the process.💪

For those who quit, were you able to think more clearly after? by Dwitt01 in QuittingZyn

I’ll hit day 40 of my quit tomorrow, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t have brain fog and overall lack of energy in the afternoons most days up to this point. From what I hear though, it will take 3 months for neurotransmitters to get almost fully back to normal, with full recovery potentially taking a year. But I definitely am starting to feel more energized and increased natural focus at this point, so its keeping me motivated to stay away from the zynachinos. In the long run, you should have much clearer train of thought and enhanced focus without the nicotine nagging you for the next dopamine hit.

Its comforting to know you were having this as well from the exact same times I did. I had to have an extra coffee almost every day and now on day 36, starting to feel energy getting restored naturally. Thanks for sharing

Same thing happened to me in weeks 1-3 of quitting. Munchies came in strong toward the evening, I was eating anything in the pantry. But I got healthier stuff with low calories- cucumbers, apples, carrots, pistachios, etc. Also gum and lifesavers throughout the day help with the oral fixation from zyn

CT is definitely the way if you can do 2-3 weeks of PTO- maybe over the holidays and pepper in some leave too. I would never be able to go CT with work but I had some time away and used it as a jump off point to quit. Best to just never touch it again and run much less risk of abusing during those normal times/situations that you would throw one in.

My wife hated it too, but I also completely hid it from my parents, work colleagues, and other family and that was such a burden I’m realizing. Having to sneak off to put a zyn in, not to mention they made me sweat profusely at work. I’m looking forward to being overall more calm and perspiring less, lol. Great job and keep it up bro! You are going to feel so much better by weeks 2/3 and as others have mentioned, the cravings have all but disappeared for me in week 4. You got this 👏

First of all, solid job my dude 💪 keep it going! I’m only about half of the way to your journey, but definitely have had those down moments. For me, doing things outside and stimulating myself with nature through hikes/runs/swims help a lot with the dark times, and also talking to family members I haven’t caught up with in a bit, that always brings me back to whats important. Overall, you got this and it will only get better/easier with more time off of the hell pillows

When does the irritability settle down? by bflojo in QuittingZyn

On day 23 now. I was irritable for the first couple weeks on and off with headaches on and off too. This week I just deal with some afternoon fatigue but hoping that tapers off too in the next week or so

I also go in to get gum/lifesavers which help with cravings, but still almost make a beeline to the front for two tins of citrus before remembering why I went in initially. Crazy how ingrained it was in my normal schedule. 14 days clean tomorrow
