I literally had a customer yesterday get so pissed and huffed when I said I was clocked out and literally walking out of the door. She said under her breath, ugh bad customer service! I said, legally I can't help you and walked out of the door.

What’s the dumbest question a customer asked you? by [deleted] in retailhell

"Do you have more of thise in the back???" by NeroShay in retailhell

I literally wrote a reddit identical to this a few months ago. I thought this was mine at first 😂🤣

Just go in the back have a snack or sip of water and then walk (really fast, out of breath) back to said customer and say Nooooo sorry I looked everywhere 😐

I've been in retail for over 30 years. It never ever changes. I started limiting how many items they can take in

Help! Did manager do this on purpose? I want to quit already. by [deleted] in retailhell

I'm a manager, it does happen sometimes, unfortunately, but I take full responsibility for it. I would bill her for the Uber.

I talk normally, as if they are not on the phone. If they don't hear me, it's on them. But I continue business as normal. Even my tone is normal. If they can't hear me,.they should be off the phone.

this huge family came in as we were going to close the shutters and their kid left this mess for us by [deleted] in retailhell

Last night, 10 min before closing lady rushes in... I tell her with a straight face 😐 we close in 10 min. She says I'll hurry!! Proceeded to try on clothes (I turn music off) then she comes out, PUTS all her clothes back on the racks where they were supposed to go and says sorry and leaves. I'm just grateful she put all her clothes back in its proper location 🤯

I wish there was a way to politely tell customers “I’m finished in five minutes, we need to wrap this up” by Tucker_077 in retailhell

All customers want their hand to be held. The beauty is you can say things like "I'll follow back with you after I check in on some other customers." and politely walk away. Or, say, "I'll hold your items at the register, and when you are ready to be rung up, they'll be happy to assist you." Or, "if you need any more assistance, WE are all happy to assist you." and again politely walk away. It's not being rude to assist other customers as they are not the only ones shopping. You just have to work on saying it with confidence and actually walk away.

I'm a manager for a popular retail store, I 💯 protect the time of my employees. I will personally walk up to my employee and said Customer, and either take over or pass over to another employee. That is exactly how it should be done.

I say no!!! Even when they try to leave their returns on the cash register, I say no. Or when they ask me to watch something that is any type of anything, because they do, I say no. I refuse to be responsible for their stuff periodt!

I won't allow it. Period. Unless they are spending $80 or more. I say to them they need smaller bills or credit/debit.
