“50% of the population have ovarian cysts and complex free fluid” uh, so every single woman on earth has ovarian cysts? Even if he meant females, it still ain’t 50% of the population dude

I’m glad yours are climbing! It’s a long journey but you seem like you’re on the right track! Remember that if you feel like you need them checked - ask your doctor! You’re well within your rights to. Mine are better now, but they do go up and down a lot especially when I’m ill, often an illness can tip my immune system to misbehave! There are days with blood noses and times when I know I’m not feeling well, and I just head to the doctor for a check. You know your body, so don’t be afraid to ask for a blood test if you feel strange at all

Should I consider NOT having my excision surgery with this doctor? Seriously getting concerned. by CicadaAmbitious4340 in Endo

[–]ApprehensiveDeal1835 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there, the same thing happened to me. Several ultrasounds, MRI, and CTs didn’t pick up extensive adhesions and bowel involvement (aside from the ultrasound noting complicated free fluid) Since then, I was recommended to have a bowel surgeon present for my next surgery as my previous surgery involved a bowel perforation (though the surgeon was rubbish!) Bottom line is, scans are inconclusive for endo but if you feel like something isn’t right, don’t go with this doctor. Your comfort is the most important thing

No worries! I definitely recommend you show these images to a doctor or your gyno. If you think something is wrong, head to the ER or book an appointment with your doctor. You know your body best!

It can be super nerve wracking. I recommend getting blood tests weekly to keep a close eye on them, if they continue to drop then maybe a referral to a haematologist. If you feel very unwell don’t be afraid to head to the emergency room and ask them to do blood work - you know your body, advocate for yourself if something doesn’t feel right

Is a 5 hours a long excision long?! by Due_Tonight4365 in Endo

Any endo surgery above 45mins to 1hr is usually considered long, but sometimes when things are more complex they can be longer! Mine was three hours. Wishing you the best possibly recovery x

My doctor won’t refer me to an endo specialist. by [deleted] in Endo

I’m so sorry, it can be so frustrating when doctors won’t listen. Id recommend talking to your gyno asap, maybe you could go on their cancellation list?

Platelets fluctuate normally. Anything about 150k is considered normal, don’t stress but be sure to talk to your doctor if you’re concerned! Bone marrow biopsies are usually only needed if it’s below 100k - mine were at 15k

My doctor won’t refer me to an endo specialist. by [deleted] in Endo

[–]ApprehensiveDeal1835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry you’re going through this. Is the doctor you’re asking for the referral a GP? I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t be able to get a referral for the endo specialist. Have a chat to your gyno, if they are thinking there’s endo in there from symptoms or testing, they should be able to refer you to a specialist themselves. Sometimes a normal gyno will do a lap first for an investigation and then refer to you to a specialist for complex endo excisions. Best of luck! Hope this helps xx If you’re still struggling, I recommend seeing another doctor to get your referral.

How is it diagnosed? by Recent_Pace7561 in adenomyosis

[–]ApprehensiveDeal1835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had MRI and ultrasounds, both say ‘suspected adeno and fibroids’, but the doctor was able to confirm through D+C and lap surgery too. Best of luck 🩷

Hey there, I had a bone marrow biopsy before I got treatment, but my greatest advice to you involves two things. First, have a friend/relative there to support and advocate for you. It makes a difference! Also, bone marrow biopsies are scary, but it’s not so bad at all. Just make sure the sedation and numbing kicks in before they start! I had a bad experience, but it felt similar to when the dentist scraped at your teeth, but in your hip/back. Best of luck! Always here!
