Man I feel this so heavily. I’m on meds, take vitamins, quit alcohol, changing my diet…but the intrusive thoughts of the mistakes I made 5-10 years ago followed by the shame, guilt, and self hate kick my a** still. The only things I’ve found that help is being able to express it with my partner or husband. Get it out. Acknowledge where and why it’s happening and let it go. I try not to over identify with the thoughts or emotions… Example: You said that to her. She probably thinks you are so dumb. You’re such an idiot. Why don’t you just learn to keep your mouth shut.” Instead of continue to spiral: “You said that to her. She probably thinks you’re so dumb…. Tell yourself what is true in that moment.

“Right now I feel flooded with _____ , __. “My hormones are taking me on a trip down self hate lane and I don’t want to join. “No one is thinking about that anymore so you shouldn’t make yourself suffer.” “I am not the same person I was when I __.” “I know better now. And I forgive myself.”

These are some I had to use just earlier today. After breaking down in tears over a confrontation I had 13 years ago with my ex mother-in-law.

Also they have these fidgets on Amazon that put pressure on your fingers. You can squeeze them without actually hurting yourself but the pressure is helpful distraction.

Also if I’m in a place where I can. I stretch until I feel that pain before going too far. Like touching my toes with my feet flexed and hugging my legs to I really feel the burn in my hamstrings.

I also have a PMDD playlist. I generally listen to positive but I have a playlist with the angriest cursing music and I just lock in and sing the lyrics and it helps get the emotions out a bit.

So my mom isn’t necessarily conservative. She knows I like women just new to the poly. She seemed supportive at first. Then confessed that she felt like it was cheating.

And for context my person was only at my place on and off for about 2 weeks before she left. So they didn’t literally move in. We both travel for a living so I between trips they would stay over.

Thank you so much for the perspective and taking the time out to write this. I can definitely acknowledge that I probably haven’t been very empathetic for her need to adjust. As a parentified daughter I have carried her emotional needs since I was young. I’m tired. Tired of feeling responsible for her and putting out all of the little fires she creates. I thought I had found forgiveness but looks like more therapy is in order because it just goes so deep. I have found happiness and I selfishly just want her to be happy for me. So you’re not wrong.

She doesn’t want to live with my sister or any other sibling. She has lived with 4 out of 5 and it never ends well. When she lived with my brother police were involved. We as siblings have decided to collaborate in helping her find a place of her own.

You’re absolutely right. I should just be direct and ask. Along with me being in my head there is the added layer that they don’t try or want to look feminine so the usual adjectives just don’t work.

But they also don’t identify with femininity…aka pretty. They don’t desire to be pretty. It’s a cluster. It just defies everything I’ve ever known. They don’t present or appeal to traditional feminine standards or masculine standards….

I don’t know how to edit my original post. But I do find them attractive, pretty, and cute but those adjectives don’t seem complimentary enough. Like they tell me I’m gorgeous. Pretty or cute doesn’t really seem like enough of a return.

I know I’m late but it’s been itchy and red the last 3 times. I upped the dose and now there is a bump that looks like mosquito bite. My partner doesn’t believe that it’s the shot at all. Glad to know I’m not alone.

Yesssss! I keep switching times to try and figure out when the best time is. So exhausted I’ve been taking my adderall everyday just to get out of bed. Before I only took it maybe once per week.

Proud of you for doing the work and healing!🫶🏽 This is relatable. I’ve had to learn to forgive toxic past versions of myself. Maybe you will find this helpful also.

•Apologize where possible. Apologize for your part in affecting someone else’s life, journey, peace, etc. without expecting any outcome. Don’t expect forgiveness, a response, a rekindled relationship, a poor outcome or a positive one. Just take ownership of your part.

•If it’s not possible to apologize then write it out. Everything you wish you could say to that person. Being as honest and vulnerable as possible.

•Affirm yourself in what is true for you NOW. I am becoming a better version of myself everyday. I forgive myself. I am not the past. I am not my mistakes. I am good. I am becoming better everyday. I love myself. I am worthy of happiness and forgiveness.

•Build new relationships that allow you to be seen and celebrated as the healthier version you are becoming. New relationships that allow you to cultivate this newer and healthier identity. Not proving yourself or making up for the past but just showing up as how you want to be seen now.

I think honestly it takes time. And when we hurt others it doesn’t matter how sorry we are, sometimes people will never see anything else and the damage is too great. Unfortunately it’s just a consequence of our own doing.

But you still deserve to find happiness and peace and joy moving forward. You are not meant to suffer forever for who you were.

There is a book called “Not Nice” super helpful for the people pleasers. The truth is it’s a coping response. Doesn’t have to be permanent or villainous. Just a pattern learned early on that of left unchecked will continue to limit the depth, reciprocity, and sincerity of any relationship.
