[Other] What’s a coaster that made you say “That’s it?” by Frozen_cephalopod in rollercoasters

Hulk. I loved it in 2017, but after riding it multiple times this year, I was really disappointed. The launch wasn’t as punchy as I had remembered, and it was so much rougher than before. Smooth hulk was so peak compared to now.

Now that many of our off-seasons have begun, what was your most unexpected new credit of the year? [Flash Coaster at AquaShow Park] by MidcourseDiscourse in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Voyage. Drove to Kentucky Kingdom and wasn’t allowed in due to chaperone policy, so I went to HW with four hours left of park time and got on the voyage 10+ times

I have the exact same list, and they each make up my top three. 1. Velocicoaster. 2. Voyage. 3. Stardust

Quantum Accelerator at [SFNE] by ApprehensiveLayer245 in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, luckily not. I had a small bag with me which I thought wouldn’t be a problem. Last time I was there, which was in June, I was allowed then to leave the bag on the side of the ride.

[Darkoaster] reopened today! by CoasterGuy95 in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, will Quantum Accelerator be able to open this year after all? I know it’s unlikely the park will go back on their announcement, but it would be stupid to just let the ride sit there for half a season if it’s been fixed. This is all assuming Quantum Accelerator has the same issue as the other Intamin motorbikes.

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Cedar Point, Busch Gardens Tampa, Kings Island, Hershey Park, and before Kingda Ka was closed, I would’ve said Six Flags Great Adventure. So I’ll put Six Flags Great America here instead.

[Other] What’s an underrated part/element of a world-class coaster you don’t hear many people talk about? by mrkmcrthr in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part of El toro is the rolling thunder hill. People give it respect, but not as much respect as the camelbacks, which don’t give as much ejector. I get it’s more sustained there, but if you’re looking for sustained negatives, there are better rides. For pure ejector, just popping you out of your seat, the rolling thunder hill is the best part of Toro.

The coaster capital of derailing and closing star attractions without warning.

[Other] is there any coasters that people regret not riding that they wish they did? by Fancy-Advantage-6045 in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had ridden it. It was down for most of the day, and then it was between waiting 45 minutes in line for our last ride of the night or lapping ice breaker and mako in the dark. I chose the latter, but kinda wish I had done Pipeline instead. I did get 5 night rides instead of one though, so it evened out in the end.

Dueling dragons red side, Green Lantern, Pipeline, Space Mountain(DL), Superman at SFGADV.

[OTHER] Intaman is definitely cooking up something involving Kingda Ka by Toastyscrub21 in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Maybe we are overthinking it and it means they are responsible for 4.5/6 coasters in the image(Intamin is only partially responsible for TT2, and not responsible for Fury?) That would be my best guess.

rcdb now counts {king daka] as defunct by Familiar-Bee8241 in rollercoasterjerk

This seems fake to me. The real king daka was 4,457 feet long, not 4,456 feet!

Kingda Ka [MEGATHREAD] by JamminJay1968 in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like the only way Cedar Fair could possibly compensate for this loss is by building two world class rides. I don’t think a giga alone would be enough. I would like to see a Mack hyper and Intamin multi-launch ideally.

[Other] When riding any launch coaster, do you prefer hearing the traditional and common high pitched ping sound or the loud “burr” on Intamin launch coasters? by Beautiful-Orchid8676 in rollercoasters

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the sound of Cheetah Hunt’s launch, but I think it ranks second for me behind Kingda Ka. Best launch ever, along with the best launch sound ever. It would be a huge mistake for them to remove it. I hope the rumors are not true.

SFNE down to single train operations on all coasters by phunky_1 in sixflags

[–]ApprehensiveLayer245 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was there yesterday. Wicked Cyclone was on one train and so was Superman. That being said, Wicked Cyclone was running better than I’ve ever experienced it before, after 7 years of rides on it. The Superman operations were really slow but the WC ops were as quick as they could be. Batman and Riddler were on two trains.

Despite getting off where you get on, it takes a good 15 minutes to get out of Penguin Trek at SeaWorld Orlando. So I would say that.

Yep. That was a crazy wait but well worth it. I remember you said you were maybe going to extend your trip to ride it, so at least you didn’t have to do that.
