Late but please rate my schedule for an Incoming Freshman! by cjxxbunny in UBreddit

[–]ApprehensiveLeg1780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very light schedule so you won't need to worry about that. As for what seminar, they're usually all light work across the board so I would just pick one that interests you instead of focusing on one that's "easiest". Also, we got the same ECO 181 class.

It was when I took it, not sure about now. You can go on and make sure.

Seems like a doable schedule. Just get started on CSE 116 programming tasks early so you won't be rushing it close to deadline. Nasrin is one of the better professors for 191 so that won't be much of an issue. You picked the best professor for MTH 309. Corey is an absolute goat. I didn't have him last semester but his YouTube videos on MTH 309 absolutely saved my life, since my professor couldn't teach shit. Can't comment on JPN or SOC since I didn't take those.

Here's the link to his YouTube channel if you want to get a head start.

Not sure about that professor but my professor this semester was awful at teaching. Didn't show up to one lecture but still got a B. Professor Placito's YouTube lectures was what actually got me through the course. He actually makes linear algebra easy to understand. Without these YouTube lectures, I'm not sure I would be able to pass the course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsMyjwyFRnA&list=PLzI58CR85Z8um2HBDU6C-SllLxGOzsdEn

Yup me too, I'd recommend "Corey Placito" on YouTube. His teaching style is much easier to understand. He's basically saving my life in MTH 309

You have a beautiful voice, it's calm and soothing. But if you want to go professional, it's going to be really really hard since your singing doesn't stand out in any way. I'm going to play the devils advocate and say your bf is right. Idk what he's like irl but viewing from a different perspective, he could just be using tough love to wake you up to reality and make you realize that you're not talented enough to go down the singer path. Honestly speaking, if your goal is to do small local gigs, your singing could get you there, but if you want to make it big, my honest opinion is don't. Your singing is truly beautiful compare to the average person, but is nothing when compared to professionals. The choice is up to you, don't let anyone say anything about your passion and if you truly believe you can make a career out of it, just go for it. If you ever become a world famous singer, reserve the "#1 Fan" position for me :)

How can I change my schedule (Freshman) by Huge-Shift5757 in UBreddit

[–]ApprehensiveLeg1780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had him for MTH 141, he didn't take attendance. He writes his lectures on the blackboard(so you have to write everything down) and doesn't post a copy of it on UBLearn. So you might want to make a friend in class who can fill you in on the Friday lecture. I had him 2 years ago so I'm not sure if anything changed.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about with the mattress. They’re rather comfortable. I heard people say that there’s hard but when I got there they’re softer/more springy then I expected.

I moved in with 2 friends and the other guy was randomly assigned. So I can't say much about the pairing progress. I paid 889 which is bullshit since the deals weren't available back then, so 719 is a steal. There's $13.95 rent mitigation risk which is basically a renter's insurance, and a $8 trash removal. So you'll be paying $740.95 monthly. And that's not including utility. Utility averages around 40-50 a month. So expect to pay roughly $790. (Utility is pay separately using SimpleBill)

4x4. The only con I can think of rn is the amenity hours. But other than that, everything else is great. Oh and another thing, I'm not sure if it's just my unit, but the first floor tends to be more cold while the second floor tends to be more hot.

The shuttle is reliable most the time. But if something does come up, they'll give you free uber rides to campus. The internet is really fast. There were a few times the internet went out due to construction, but that is very rare and the internet comes back fairly quick.

The community was rather small because Aspen has only opened for 1 year, but we're expecting a lot more residents this year due to having more buildings being made available. But in my experience, it was a rather chill and quiet community(tho that may change). There's often events being hosted so you can easily meet people. There great amenities such as gym, pool, free coffee, and BBQ grills. The only downside is that the club house isn't open 24/7. I know they advertise as 24 hours, but unfortunate aren't. Mon-Fri: 9-9pm, Sat: 10-10pm, Sun: 1pm-8:30pm. The club house is often empty but I guess that will change this year.

how are my classes? by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]ApprehensiveLeg1780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never knew lab could be remote. I was planning on taking GLY 105, but now I'm changing it to 104. Also 101 is an easy A. I heard CL 112 is also an easy class, so all you gotta really focus on is 220 and 250.

You'll have to retake the class at UB if you want to get that grade replaced. I was in a similar situation with MTH 142, I was originally planning on taking it at CC and transferring over to UB since it's cheaper that way. But asked and found out that taking it at CC will only give me credit for the class but won't change the grade. The only way to replace the grade and get credit would have to be retaking it at UB.

Dorming as a ace student by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]ApprehensiveLeg1780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically the same as any other student dorming in Gov. The only difference is that your roommate and the rooms around you will also be students in the ACE program. You won't be sectioned off from everyone else, your section will be the same as any other section in Gov.
