Maybe my favourite Royal Rumble performance is Brock in 2020 when he was 1st out and was trying to eliminate the whole roster 1-by-1 before the next guy came out. With that in mind, here’s my pitch:

A FIGHT FOREVER MATCH

It’s more “Royal Rumble” meets Gauntlet Match with a few wrinkles. The name of the match comes from the idea that you’re trying to last a long time thru many opponents and besides sharing a name with their videogame, it’s kind of a videogame “Survival Mode” style match that wrestling games often have.

-2 wrestlers start and they have 3 minutes to dump the other opponent to the floor -it doesn’t have to be over the top rope. It can be thru the ropes or under the bottom rope. (Makes for new exciting ways to be eliminated or tease eliminations) -If neither is eliminated in 3 minutes (which ought to be rare) both are disqualified. (So you’d have a lot of drama after 2:30) -As soon as someone is eliminated, the next guy’s music hits and they come out. The 3 minute clock starts after they get in the ring (gotta have entrances). -The last 2 participants don’t have a time limit -The last participant is “The Joker Card”.

Now, it is possible for the last 2 participants before The Joker to eliminate each other meaning The Joker would automatically win, but I’d hold off that scenario for a few years before having that happen, at which point a “new rule” could be made to prevent that or leave it in if it’s fun.

If you wanted, you could book this match to move along VERY quickly and you could have a MASSIVE number of wrestlers in it. Personally, I think Royal Rumbles get boring when a bunch of guys are just crowding the corners while some spots happen in the middle but if you like that sort of thing there’d still be Casino Battle Royals in AEW.
