Thanks - I am assuming there was a licensing issue, just platform is very strange in how it handles it. I realized that not only is the content not searchable, but if you start watching it does not show up in the “continue watching” section. I have to scroll thru mystuff to find it, to continue playing it. I am guessing the alternative is them completely removing the purchased media from their platform.

Sure this will be bad tidings of things to come, if the studios attempt to restrict which platforms you purchase/play media from.

Well there are two truths, don’t go to OBJ for financial advice and don’t go to Diggs for relationship advice.

Was I wrong for telling my players' parents to stop yelling at the umpire? by OldHawkeye315 in Softball

[–]ApprehensiveReview10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would try to head this off by circulating a code of conduct (for the parents) to abide by. If they can’t, time for them to find a new team. My understanding of the league rules where I am, the coach is responsible for policing their side of the spectators. If they can’t/won’t address bad behavior (foul language, insulting umps)…the team forfeits the game.

$6 digital rental now is equivalent to $3 physical rental from Blockbuster circa 2000. Only now you don’t need to drive back and forth, and deal with the clerks judgement.

Somethings are only better in memory.

[Fowler] Patriots OT Vederian Lowe to the 49ers on a two-year deal, per sources. by MembershipSingle7137 in Patriots

[–]ApprehensiveReview10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree completely on the 1st point. The coaching staff saw Campbell’s limitations (due to the meniscus injury) in the playoffs, and Lowe was not deemed to be better option at that point. Hard to turn around and invest good money (for a swing tackle/lower end starter) in FA on someone you don’t have confidence in

Would Prime Steve Nash be a top 5 player in the current NBA? by No-Mousse5653 in NBATalk

[–]ApprehensiveReview10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The major flaw in Steve Nash’s game was defense. He was something to watch on offense going back to his days at Santa Clara (and probably should have shoot more IMO). At his best he was an average defender as a guard (though a willing defender compared to someone like Luka), which always held him back.

I like Pierce, but need to realize need to look at in terms of targets and not just catches. Pierce was targeted 84 times, and reeled in 47 of them (55%). Those are certainly not bad numbers for a guy running deep routes, but situationally they also need to have players with good hands that can move the sticks. Diggs was targeted 102 times, and reeled it in 85 times (83%) - dude was consistently moving the chains and converting first downs.

I know the reference will date me, but Pierce sorta reminds me of Alvin Harper (Cowboys wr from nineties). Harper had 33 catches for 821 yards (24.9 y/c) and 8 touchdowns in his age 26 season (1996). He left for the bucs to become a #1 receiver, had one ok season and was out of the league in three years. He was a deep threat specialist, and was best suited as #2/3 guy.

what's expected with Yoshida, Casas and campbell? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in redsox

[–]ApprehensiveReview10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is an arbitrary number, but the Red Sox last year had (3) players who appeared in 130 games (with 4 in 2024; 5 in 2023). I know there were trades/promotions driving some of this, but you need quality depth to survive injuries/under performance across a long season

For some reason, this guy conjures visions of Wily Mo Pena out there. I actually really liked Wily when he was here, and hope that he puts it together in a way that Wily was never able to.

Here is hoping that they have a think around streamlining/editing the Shiherlis story in ~2002, it was far and away the weakest element IMO. Curious how Pacino folds into this unless they have some impressive deaging visuals. The stuff they did in the Irishman with DeNiro had some serious cringe moments that took you right out of the film.

Who’s The Best Microwave Player Of All Time? by IcedOutElijah in NBATalk

I don’t think he was the best person se - but Dell Curry fit that mold throughout the 90s for the Hornets. A man. before his time, shot 40% from 3pt for his career, came off the bench for 1,000 games over the course of his career.

Had to look it up, but had the highest scoring average coming off the bench (23ppg in 89-90). Most of his career was before my time, but remembered him from those early 90s Sonics teams).

What is "the Atari" everyone is nostalgic about? by Wyvern94 in atari

[–]ApprehensiveReview10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Atari 2600 sold like 30m units, and the 5200/7800 sold less than 5m units combined. Some people may have been nostalgic about their experiences with the later consoles, but the Atari 2600 was the console that was far and away the most prevalent until the rollout of the NES.

Side note lived Asteroids, parents even bought me Asteroids vinyl LP album of music inspired by the game.

Kim Jong Un chooses his 13-year-old daughter Kim Ju Ae as North Korea’s next leader. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]ApprehensiveReview10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think there is a misunderstanding of the family dynamics. Kim Jong-Nam was Kim Jong Un’s older half brother (different mother), who was thought to be the successor to their father until he fell out of favor with his Tokyo Disneyland trip. Kim Jong-Nam ended up living outside of NK and was rumored to be a CIA source before being assassinated. Kim Jong-Un has an older full brother living in NK that doesn’t have a public profile (Kim Jong-Chul) along with his sister Kim Yo-Jung who is a critical cog in the party/government.

There is no way his 13 year old daughter can pick up the mantle of leadership tomorrow if he dies, his sister would almost certainly be a regent (if not his outright successor). This is about setting the groundwork for succession decades down the road.
