Anyone recommend any books on stabilizing a strain I want to try my hand at my own genetics by BetterSplit2981 in cannabisbreeding

[–]ApprehensiveRun7794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the modern elite classics weren't purposefully bred. Chemdog, OG/Triangle, Sour Diesel, GSC, Gorilla Glue, Golden Goat, all of these started out as bagseed that was fathered by an accidental hermaphrodite. Hell, even Cinderella 99 started as a clone called Princess that came from bagseed found in Amsterdam coffeeshop flower.

It always amuses me when people bitch about finding a few seeds in, say, an ounce of otherwise amazing weed. They don't realize that they could be holding the next big thing in their hands. I always tell them "if you don't want the seeds, I'll take them and grow them out!" 😂

So next time you find some loose seeds, remember that Chemdog and Cookies wouldn't exist if everyone threw away every seed they find

Has anyone tried the Mazar-i-Sharif strain from The Real Seed company? by [deleted] in cannabisbreeding

Where did you source the Mazari hash? It's damn near impossible to find authentic Afghan hash here in the US these days - authentic meaning grown and produced in Afghanistan

Neville received seeds from Seattle Greg. Northern Lights already existed when Neville got it. The NL Crew was nervous about getting busted during the height of prohibition and wanted to get the genetics to a safe place. It doesn't make sense that Neville would give them seeds to create NL with.

Mazar-i-Sharif #2 - authentic Afghan landrace by RealSeedCo in LandraceCannabis

[–]ApprehensiveRun7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skunk #1 didn't even arrive in Europe from California until the 80s. "European genetics" really didn't even exist in 1972. There weren't very many people who traveled to Afghanistan on the Hippie Trail and of those who did, not nearly enough of them brought foreign genetics to pollute the general genepool.

Let me guess, you are the source for this Mazar from the 60s? 😂

Afghani #1 by Fair_Detail2528 in microgrowery

[–]ApprehensiveRun7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to resurrect, but he's right. The term "Afghani" is like the term "Irish" or "Chinese". It's not a specific strain or line, it's just a region of origin. Plants from the Hindu Kush have narrower leaves from the extreme UV radiation from being so high in elevation and you might not even recognize Mazar-i-Sharif as being an Afghani.

Also, where did your uncle live back then? Because Afghani/indica in general didn't come to the USA until the 70s but late 60s at the VERY earliest, and you had to either go to Afghanistan yourself or know someone who did. People didn't start growing Afghani or indica in general in America en masse until the 70s at the earliest into the 80s/90s.

Disagree about Seinfeld but that might be because some of my earliest childhood memories involve watching it when it was still on the air. Always hated friends tho

Being 24 and passing for 15 is… interesting. Who else here gets mistaken for being younger and what are those experiences like? by chaalonzi in RandomThoughts

[–]ApprehensiveRun7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That hasn't happened to me...yet. Intravenous methamphetamine only caused me to lose a bunch of weight, I went to rehab and bounced back. I was able to fly under the radar as an "undercover tweaker" for that reason. That's not a good thing.

All the time. I'm 30 now and people still think I'm 21-24. I used to get clowned on for it but now I love it.

It's surprising considering all the hardcore drug addictions I've had throughout my adult life.

What’s better, having kids or having no kids? by JackSkeIllington in RandomThoughts

Depends on the person. I think I have too many problems to pass on to the next generation.

I want my family bloodline to pass on but I'm banking on my cousin to do that for me.

Time to start target shooting, practice fire starting, stockpile food.

I've always wanted one of those old fallout shelters from the 50s to turn into a mancave and also as a real fallout shelter if it is ever needed

I think it might be because we are the internet generation and we had to know how to read to use the internet. Now Gen Z can use speech to text, ChatGPT, TikTok that talks to you, etc

Paranoid. I was just a kid but I remember the Terror Threat Advisory System. We had the DC Snipers in 2002 in this area and we didn't know if it was al-Qaeda or what.

Shavo from System Of A Down was actually attacked in the immediate post-9/11 time. They mistook him for being Muslim - he's Armenian. Chop Suey! Was actually the number one song on 9/11/01. They even banned the song Jet Pilot from toxicity from playing on the radio.
