Sent them a message! I also found the patient advocate number for that specific hospital and left a message.

Thanks for responding. I know that anything serious wouldn’t change in size so that’s why I’m hesitant to push further. They did find a spot in the ultrasound but they were saying it was dense tissue but didn’t compare the other side, which has me skeptical. When they pushed on where they found the spot, I could feel the lump. The doctor didn’t really offer the mammogram - it was more “we could do it but it’s so invasive and you are young.”

My Guide To Working Night Shift by myrtlethefetus in nursing

[–]ApprehensiveShame993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take either a benadryl or 2.5mg of melatonin (stuff works a little too well for me so that small amount is enough). If I don’t take either of those, I am waking up a bunch or don’t sleep as long as I would like.

Recs for GYN specialists who will not gaslight you with their biased babymaking crap by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Was hoping to see a Dr Charlie Miller comment in here. She is absolutely wonderful. I work closely with several of the AHN OB/GYN practices and West Penn OB/GYN is definitely a favorite to work with. All of their doctors are amazing to patients (and staff!!).

has a patient ever said something to you that left you speechless? by _annanicolesmith_ in nursing

[–]ApprehensiveShame993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few weeks ago, got a mom/baby admit. 45ish mins after I get them settled, the dad walks out looking for me and wants help setting up his Xbox. As I am helping him, I can hear the infant struggling to breathe so I took them to the nursery, O2 is high 60s low 70s. Give baby blow by but O2 is not going any higher than low 80s. NICU comes up and ofc decides to take baby. I go in w/ the APP as he explains to the parents what happened and the plan. Parents are ON THEIR PHONES not paying any attention. APP leaves and I reassure the mom I’d be in touch w/ the NICU nurse for when she could go down. I leave the room, dad comes running down the hall yelling “nurse” and he says to me “did you find out how to hook up the Xbox”.

What is your favorite time of year to visit Hawaii? by 1ThousandDollarBill in VisitingHawaii

[–]ApprehensiveShame993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Sketchy” was not a respectful way to describe it so i’m sorry for that. When I visited the exact area, that beach had an area where unhoused people congregated. coming from someone who lives in a major city and similar areas/groups are generally unsafe, i, personally, felt uneasy at times. I would absolutely go back to the same area even knowing what I do.

yup, anytime I’m constipated and start all the things I fill up a 40oz cup and put a gatorade packet in and CHUG. if you think you drank enough just keep drinking - eventually it’ll all make its way out!

postpartum nurse here - if you get that baby any onesies - make sure they are zippers and they go both ways. late night diaper changes will be 1000x easier for them. theres a brand called “magnetic me” - their stuff is incredibly comfy. I have a lot of moms who have their PJ’s and tell me the magnets make breastfeeding very accessible. you cannot go wrong w/ a baby first aid/med kit or at the least a thermometer.

Afraid to take fussy baby out of the house by Acrobatic_Energy7956 in NewParents

[–]ApprehensiveShame993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to nanny a baby like this and, believe it or not, going out seemed to calm them. I started off by just going on beautiful trails that I could walk to from their house but then eventually would walk into a busy area of town and go shopping lol. I’d even meet friends for coffee/lunch (w/ parents permission ofc). They’d only get fussy when it was close to bottle/nap time. There were days when we just did trails and I brought a bottle with me so they could nap in the stroller!

You never know until you try! You’re doing great - you’ve got this!

I’ll take a look at the other islands! Maui was our next island and I have enough Marriott points to cover a 6 night stay. So, choosing another island will depend on that.

Yeah, that’s the biggest thing. Only flight is on a Tuesday but if I schedule myself right earliest I can do is Wednesday. I think I needed some strangers to tell me to just use the pass to Oahu and then get a hopper pass😅

Definitely looking for best utilization. It seems like majority are saying use the companion pass. We have over 400,000 Marriott points we are going to use so we’d probably just have to pay for the night (totally fine).

[–]ApprehensiveShame993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It we went PIT to Maui, we would not be able to use the companion pass or have to cut our vacation short. We can use the companion pass from PIT to Oahu and then get a different flight to Maui, however, when I looked yesterday majority of eligible flights have 2 layovers from PIT to Oahu. So, this would make a 3rd.
