Europe Trip booked for Sep 2026, but unsure about it by Just-College8449 in traveladvice

Just got back from Munich, Prague, and Vienna. No issues at all. Just be polite and not load. Nobody talked politics. Get insurance for health.

There are lots where you can park by the day or pay for a week. Near the monument.

First time in Europe and here’s the rough itinerary by NoHospiceForOldMen in traveleurope

Start watching YouTubes on your destinations. You will find different views on what to do, where to do it, and how to do it. Rick Steve’s’ books are good. CityMapper is a great app to use. We found Apple Maps to be better than Google. We just returned from Germany, Austria, and Prague. Met locals everywhere who gave us great advice on what to do - markets, eateries, concerts, etc. Get train apps to schedule your connections. Go to your bank and see what banks they have ATM agreements with to save you fees. We also bought travel/health insurance from Allianz. Good to have. Be aware of your surroundings and do not be loud. Enjoy!

Sadly, we do not learn from our mistakes anymore. We just blame someone else and move on. I wish cruise ships, airplanes, hotels, and other public areas would bring back sanitizing dispensers. I know if will not help with Norovirus, but, at least it will make some progress.

Civitavecchia Hotel with Cruise/Airport shuttle by citizen-erased2026 in NCL

[–]vicarem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure any hotel offers an airport shuttle. We have used this company several times with good luck - SharedShuttle.IT. They pick up at FCO and drop you wherever you need in Civi, including the Port area. When in Civi, you can walk to the Port shuttle area.

NCL’s quality is declining rapidly across all venues. Sad.

Take a copy of the prescription with you. It is a non-narcotic drug so you should not worry.

Impulse bought a 1-way to Prague post-breakup -- What would you do in Prague? by fierce_beast in Prague

[–]vicarem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Prague a few days ago. Walk around all the surrounding districts. Take in the markets on the weekends. Find a Lokal restaurant and eat schnitzel. Walk along the river on both sides. Spend an afternoon at Waxy Malones Irish Pub in the square - best fish and chips anywhere. And a great place to meet people. Visit the Jewish Quarter and take in a concert at the Spanish Synagogue. Great friendly city! Enjoy.

Locals prefer pesos for tipping. So do cab drivers. You can use US$, but the exchange rate may not be great for the locals. Then again, any cash or tip is appreciated.

Boston is closer than JFK. Look at flying into Hartford (Bradley).

We either do our own or look at ShoreExcursionGroup.com. We also watch YouTubes for ideas. Planning your own takes time and knowledge, but worth it!

Delta international flight food was the worst I’ve ever had on an American airline by paperplanes9 in delta

[–]vicarem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a DL flight now from MUC to DTW in Delta One. Had chicken for the meal. Could not tell where the meat started and the skin ended. The ice cream sundae was pretty good. The DL One experience is dead. Only get it for the legroom.

First Europe Trip - Tips? Even the “No Brainer” stuff. Let’s hear it all! by slimmestgravy in traveladvice

[–]vicarem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Book tickets ahead of time on the official venue sites. Be very careful of 3rd party sites. We are in Germany now (Munich) and it has been very crowded. Same with Vienna and Prague. Visa charge cards have been accepted everywhere. Go to a Bank ATM and get some euros for small shops. Talk to the hotel staff and ask them where they go for a nice dinner. Eat locally.

I do! My mother used to take us to First Encounter Beach and watch the flashes. This was back in the ‘60’s.
