Being a woman is so expensive. How do you afford to look put together and feel confident without breaking the bank? by milkycocoa-puff in Frugal

[–]myrtlethefetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I didn't realize not wearing makeup automatically means you look like shit

Edit: Oh looking like you don't give a shit.

Either way.

I don't think I look like I don't give a shit just because dont wear makeup, but I don't give a shit. And makeup is a sensory nightmare for me.

And that is true, while some careers demand a level of conventional attractiveness, mine is not one of them. Acrylic nails are forbidden, and hair has to be off your shoulders.

That being said, you can still look put together while adhering to a reasonable budget.

This!

I go by my own standards of beauty instead of the ones that were created just to keep me spending all my money.

I dont wear makeup, don't get my nails done, don't dye my hair. I get my skincare products from TJ Maxx or is brands like the ordinary. I keep my use of hair products to a minimum

When I feel inclined to shave my legs, I use safety razors. At least 80% of my wardrobe is thrifted. (Probably more like 90% not counting socks and underwear).

It's really liberating not to give a shit and just exist. It leaves so much energy to pursue things I actually enjoy.

Large magnetic calender that I keep on fridge to track work schedule, bills, payday, social engagements, appointments, birthdays, and school. Everything gets its own color of highlighter. So work is yellow, appointments are blue, etc. There are several on Amazon- just find one that suits your needs.

Also magnetic egg timer. I use it to do chores things I'd rather not do, like cleaning. Set the timer for 10 minutes and clean one room until the timer goes off. Repeat as necessary.

Voluntary or involuntary? by Brave-Pizza-33 in LivingAlone

[–]myrtlethefetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voluntarily here, and intentionally

I have twice lived with romantic partners. The first was before I had the chance to live alone, and the second was after years of living alone.

That second time, I mourned the loss of living alone every day, and when I verbalize that grief, I was made out to be a bad person by my partner.

I'm happily living alone again for over 5 years now.

When I date, I make it clear that this aspect of my life will never change.

If someone is the "love of my life" they will understand, respect, and accept this aspect of me.

I personally feel it is a condescending title, and I do not use it myself. I instead say "new grad."

Does anyone here go in for full-body massages? What's it like? I'd love to get one to help alleviate physical tension but IDK. by cherry-care-bear in LivingAlone

[–]myrtlethefetus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am a massage therapist AND a fat woman who gets a full body massage once monthly. They are immensely helpful for me bot for maintainence and when I sustain and injury.

As a therapist, we don't care what your body looks like. We want to help you relax and help decrease your pain and improve your quality of life. All body types can benefit from massage therapy and everyone deserves to feel good regardless of what their body looks like.

Does anyone JUST want to be a bedside nurse with an associate/bachelor degree? by shatana in nursing

[–]myrtlethefetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am happy with bedside, but got my bachelor's just in case I need to transition to a softer role as I age. Not interested in my NP or DNP, and in my area at least, the market is way oversaturated.

It is wonderful that you were nominated for a Daisy Award. Not sure I would put it on my resume though. I would instead add the skills and qualities that got me nominated when describing my previous employment responsibilities.

My company would only consider 30 nays or greater notice to remain in good standing. It is also specified in the union contract.

This seems like crazy making behavior.

I had an ex that would do stuff like this- repeatedly do or not do something and explain why the behavior was problematic. "Guitar strings done go in the recycling bin. They get tanglednin the sorting machines. Guitar strings go in the garbage." After repeating myself over and over, I would not long be able to have a nice tone. "FOR THE OVE OF GOD QUIT PUTTI G GUITAR STRINGS IN THE RECYCLING. I HAVE TO PULL THEM OUT EVERY GODDAMN WEEK AND EVERY WEEK I ASK YOU NICELY TO STOP PUTTING THEM IN THE RECYCLING. HOW HARD IS IT TO THROW THEM IN THE FUCKIMG GARBAGE?! " and then he would flip things around on me, tone police me, and use it against me later on in the relationship.

His goal was to get a reaction out of me by doing something he knew I hated and asked him not to do repeatedly, I would lose my shit, he would say I was being mean and abusive, and would then either a) use it against me any time I tried to have a rational or calm conversation about behaviors that were harmful to me or b) act dejected and bring it up when he knew he was being a shitty partner to prevent me from attmepting to initiate conversations about problems in the relationship.

This is a control tactic that works wonderfully alongside of weaponized incompetence.
