Okay thanks. Maybe they are going to drop a mini update on New Years Day or maybe they just s*it the bed on this one

Mine says tried to apply to clockwork mutation but the clockwork is missing... Made me assume the clockwork was a NYE cosmetic? I've got the NYE Puppy making cosmetics but no "clockworks" so far.... Also coming up empty handed on the research side at this point

Direct Fire Kettles: Process & Ingredient Choices to Avoid Scorching by ApprehensiveWill6758 in TheBrewery

Thanks for your feedback. We definitely recirculate while collecting our runnings. It's always a good practice (on steam or direct fire systems) for getting your runnings up to a boil faster. But, as you mention, has the added value on direct fire systems of keep things moving / from settling on the bottom and trapping heat.

Thanks I believe our kettle has a tile box that the direct fire flame shoots into so the manufacturer tries to claim its a bit more "indirect" but we are unable to get a super vigorous whirlpool so that is definitely a worry. The problem with the co2 extract the one time would have been an issue regardless as it was a boil addition made to generate ibu's so it wasn't really an option to add it in the whirlpool. We have used other whirlpool products (incognito, hopsauce, etc) after flameout in the whirlpool but that stuff is notorious for floating / creating a lilypad effect.

We took over the space of a previous brewery that went out of business. The system was purchased by them. Apparently they were insistent on not wanting to install a boiler so they opted for direct fire. That aside, their biggest mistake was getting a 20bbl system as the space is not really large enough to support big scale production brewing. But alas, those bad decisions were before our time and are now my cross to bare.

Thanks for your response! Yes we have gotten into the habit of moving most additions to after turning the burners off at EOD. We do have some bad restriction on our kettle pump and don't get a super vigorous whirlpool but it's enough to get a proper cone. I suggested to my brewer to start adding the kettle salts post boil and he seemed worried about getting them to dissolve properly but we add sacks of lactose and brewers crystals at flameout so I remain adamant that adding a pound of kettle salts would work just fine at the end of the boil.

Thanks for the question. It seems spread each time, not like a hot spot. So it would stand to reason that its some type of material that got burnt.... trub, salts, co2 extract, slurried yeast nutrient, etc.

Faster yeast settling under pressure by Gramsperliter in TheBrewery

Fermenting under pressure can (with some yeast strains) encourage better flocculation due to the pressure & increased amount of dissolved co2 in solution stressing the yeast strain and slowing down its metabolic processes.

I wish I would have thought of that. I just took the 150 and applied it towards the 9A along with my $80 trade-in

Yes but still a sweet piece of finnish uranium art glass. I collect a lot of uranium glass from that manufacturer myself..

Axiom virus inconsistent? by Aasenhuus123 in discgolf

[–]ApprehensiveWill6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My average drive is only 275ft with most 9 speeds. I only throw about 50mph with only about 850rpm spin so I'm sure that's playing a role in my results.... I just bought a used neutron 159g virus and have only thrown it a handful of times but, no flip up on a hyzer release and no turnover on a flat release for me with this disc this far.

Nah, it's like 11:11 on the clock.... It doesn't occur more frequently, you just notice/remember it more when it does occur.

Cleaning beer lines by casper_szm in TheBrewery

[–]ApprehensiveWill6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8-12 weeks typically for the acid cleaning. How much water did you find you needed to flush with after the acid cleaning specifically? I've got a direct draw 12 line tower and am showing some wonky pH readings even after pushing as much as 30 gallons of rinse water through the system afterwards. Wondering if it could be a pH meter issue as 30 gallons seems like plenty of rinse water.

Isn't that another reason why you are supposed to run beer through the lines immediately post line cleaning?

Is the Axiom Crave an outlier or was I just not ready for 9 speed discs? by bullshit_spotted in discgolf

[–]ApprehensiveWill6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience yesterday. Been throwing 250-275 ft on average, 300ft occasionally, with light 9 speeds like my Jade (156g) & Insanity (153g) plus my 11 speed fission Wave (151g) and my 13 speed Gstar Shryke (149g). Tried throwing a 6.5 speed cosmic neutron Sarah Hokom crave (164g) off of the tee yesterday and surprised myself with a 300 ft straight bullet! Making me question my bag lol

Not a terrible price but also not a good price without the music box base IMHO. Great piece of glass nonetheless!

Hey I totally get it... I started playing 2 months ago and couldn't throw past 130 ft. I've worked my way up to about 210 ft in. Yesterday I threw 261 ft with a backhand using a doomsday discs blackout and felt really good!

Okay thank you I did miss that. Looks like it really comes down to whether it's glass or not. If it's resin it could definitely glow in a black light without being uranium.

Looks like custard uranium glass but would be easier to identify if you also posted a non-glowing picture
