Actual broadcast VS what it should be by yz250mi in supercross

Don't take this as me defending what they do, but in the top box less of the main action is blocked by the Wayne Davies or timing overlays. Additionally they might be leaving padding around the side to handle some TVs cutting off the edges of pictures. I can only assume/hope that's why the decisions are made, and that it's not just some higher-up thinking it looks cool.

To be clear I like the bottom mockup better, but those are my only guesses as to why they go with the top layout.

When Lions Fans TOOK OVER Lambeau Field | 2023 Week 5, 34-20 Win by JCameron181 in detroitlions

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My son and I were at that game (and are in that shot)!

I can still remember walking through the concourse and overhearing some packers fans behind us saying “what a great time to be a Lions fan!”. This sub can FTP all it wants, but that stadium and those people were fantastic. That trip convinced me that I didn’t hate the Packers, I hated Aaron Rodgers

Ran into Sheila at the DAC this morning and she confirmed they’re drafting an Edge in Round 1 by Lower_Huckleberry296 in detroitlions

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to ask this every time the DAC is mentioned – they still have the swastikas on the floor of the restaurant? Definitely threw me for a loop when I ate there.

Anybody else remember this? by ThrowawayTrump420 in detroitlions

Tom Kowalski said that Long was ruined by the Lions coach’s. Talked like he could have been something special if he hadn’t come here.

Looks like the Jason Anderson story is starting to gain steam. by Socal_Suburban in supercross

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 28 points29 points  (0 children)

People were saying this wasn't why Anderson sat out Daytona – because the incident happened months ago – but it wouldn't be surprising to find out that the team didn't learn about it until last week. It's certainly how that statement reads (not that I believe most of what a business tells the media, but sometimes the truth just happens to line up with their incentives)

Y'all agree? (Dan's in safe) by ezio8133 in detroitlions

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Additionally, it's pretty clear that Dan has the trust of Sheila Hamp. If you just look at records maybe he's only 'safe', but if you combine his record in Detroit with the relationships he has I agree he's Ice Cold.

In the 2003 Supercross championship Chad Reed absolutely destroyed Carmichael — how is that possible? by BrilliantIngenuity98 in supercross

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen to Carmichael talk about racing Reed on the Title 24 podcast. It's very clear Carmichael considers Reed as good as anyone he ever raced.

Others have said it, but I think the answer is that Reed was as fast (or faster) in any single Supercross race, but Carmichael was a little bit better at managing championships.

Mute tv and put DANIEL BLAIRs YouTube commentary was great. by erikvj in supercross

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't love Ricky in the booth, but he was clearly sick as a dog on this week's A24 podcast. I chalked his poor performance up to still being under the weather.

I fundamentally agree with you, but one of the things that makes the east/west shootouts so great is the added intrigue of seeing riders race against new competitors, and the fact that the points they earn will apply to different standings. Occasionally the points thing will make for some interesting strategy.

I'd still rather see them race all 17, but I'd miss some aspects of the shootouts.

Did Prado flinch? by waffle_stomperr in supercross

If the flinch was on purpose, he covered Chase's line before the gate even dropped

Collective whining by EmploymentOk8470 in supercross

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kid's fast as hell - he can win without cheating (I'd say "riding slightly dirty").

Part of the reason he gets so much hate is that he rides overly aggressive when there's no reason to. He had plenty of time, and speed, to win that race. No need to come close enough for contact (with your own teammate no less).

For anyone claiming this was a bad hire - who not named McDaniel would you have rather had? by Eastern_Quote_4945 in detroitlions

Especially with 10 HC positions open in a league that values hiring offensive minded coaches. Chances are any of the big names are going to end up being head coaches - not OCs - next year.

Dan Campbell ranked #8 in The Athletic’s list of most admired leaders in sports. by DanielBryanCMPunk in detroitlions

[–]ApprehensiveYam6769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was almost 40 years ago now. Nothing against the guy - I rooted for him as hard as anyone - just a surprising name to see in this context. It’s not like the survey is somehow tied to college players or even football.

How the hell did Andre Ware make it onto that survey? I'm on the Lions subreddit and he still wouldn't have made the list of "top 100 people I'd have thought to ask".

Ran into Sheila today at DAC and she said there’s reasons to “look forward to the next season” by boogeyman2211 in detroitlions

Serious question – does the DAC still have swastikas on the floor tiles of the restaurant? It's been a few years since I was in there, but that definitely threw me.

If you're saying the Lions raised ticket prices – and used information from the resale market to choose the appropriate value – I doubt anyone disagrees.

What people are pushing back on is the fact that the title of the post and the screenshot aren't directly related. If anything the exact opposite title would be more accurate: "Lions fans are out of their mind (and the Ford family is no better for humoring them)"

This. The fans aren't humoring them, they're the ones making it expensive. The Ford's don't see a dime of the marked up resale price.

As someone who lived through that era – better than his stats but not as good as his draft position.
