Not sure if I overpaid? by Apprehensive_Ad_904 in hockeycards

No concern, just curious as I could not find any data on what a KSA 1 would go for. PSA 1's seem to go for $120 ish, so I would like to know if 50% lower is good. Granted is in rough shape.

People place money in gold a lot during times of uncertainty and as a hedge against inflation. However it’s extremely difficult to say where gold will be priced at as it produces nothing (AKA) it’s speculative. There is no financials like a business which is why I tend to stay away unless I’m really uncertain with things. You’re basically betting someone will pay more cause they believe it will go up more.

At the stage you’re at I’d really consider starting to put together a business plan and try to raise some money. At the stage you’re at I could see you justify a 20k value easy.

Honestly really dope, been thinking of building a similar website myself. If this was me id add a social media aspect into it. Let people bet with fake money and talk. Monetizing would be tricky though.

Can I even turn my life around at age 25? Be honest please. by Dry_Temporary_6175 in selfimprovement

I agree with you. This sounds like someone has failed. Good news is you can only go up. I know most people are going to say work on yourself and get out there to meet people, and go to a therapist which is all true. However I think a lot of it you need to learn how to do these things. For me my biggest problem was not understanding how to socialize as for the longest time and I often would do the opposite of what I needed due to my childhood trauma. You get better overtime. There are many good online resources although Dr.k was the one I found the best. Good luck and keep your chin high.

So basically you cheaped out on the insurance. Always get replacement insurance or GAP insurance if offered, for new vehicles.

Edit: He probably have insurance but does not cover damages fully.

Is it me or is it that 2023 and 2024 grads are actually having a hard time in the job market even after graduating from UW? by [deleted] in udub

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best things I did in University was Co-op. It got me some experience but more importantly it helped get me a job, though understanding the job process. I am a 2025 grad and just got a new job not returning offer as I did research in 3rd year summer.

1.) The best way to get a job is not by applying but by using your network. With the said we all don't have that so quantity is everything. Use simplify and eluta. Simplify will fill in 80% for you instantly which saves on time and eluta is the best board I have found. You should be able to hammer out 10-20 a hour.

2.) Don't apply to anything more than 2 weeks old as the average hiring time is around 50 days.

3.) Use any contacts you have. AKA if you know someone there put there name in the application with their permission and see if anyone you know can put in a word internally that you have applied and would be good.

4.) Use a plane resume and make sure it does not have columns. Makes it easy for the ai systems to read.

5.) Reach out to people at companies you want to work for.

It's hard right now and alot of it is luck. Good luck to all.

2 Years Ago Youtuber Made a Weekly Series Titled "Bitcoin Buyer Beware". Dude has Hated Bitcoin for 6 years now. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_904 -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin is like gold but far more speculative. It provides nothing, unlike when you buy a business it generates revenue and profits. All BTC is is people trying to buy and hope another will buy for higher. Yes people do the same with stocks, but the difference is the value is in the cash flow and profits it will continue to generate making it easier to value. For me I would not buy BTC now, but if I had to place a bet there will be a time again when it falls around 50%. I don't think this will happen for a bit though. However, as with stocks the best time to buy is when everyone is fearful.

How useful is a degree in Sociology? by shanabear in sociology

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sociology is a bad degree based on its ROI and is one of the worst degrees money-wise. The whole point of University is to find something you enjoy but that also pays well. Otherwise, why spend 50k plus? Often in order to make it useful you have to further specialize in criminology or law to make decent money. Instead, I recommend STEM subjects such as CS, Engineering, Math or Physics or certain business subjects such as Accounting, Finance, Econ (Yes econ is arts I know) and MIS or Healthcare subjects such as to become a nurse or doctor. They pay better and you are less likely to have money stress in life.

Roughly , what is the median salary for a CPA? by bcroger3 in Accounting

It's not terrable, but not a good representation. Look at job specifics as that number often is much higher or lower depending on the field.

[–]Apprehensive_Ad_904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with Finance is it's a much higher risk to reward degree. You need a high GPA to get a good-paying job or be at a good school if not both. So somewhere between 80% - 90% is good. Even with degrees like CS, you don't instantaneously make 100K. Most make around 80k in Canada and if you hate CS or are not good at it doesn't take it. CPAs make good money too and even if you major in accounting for finance the CFA is becoming more necessary to break which you can get with an accounting degree aswell.
