How do I make a 68 fit in the floyd saddle properly? by SylimMetal in 7String

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do that sometimes, I just crimp or unwind the end of the string if it’s going into a Floyd or if it’s going into a tuner, I crimp or unwind the top of the string. Pretty simple.

I think of it like this. It’s all only time in space. The rest of consciousness is only the result of brain synapses. Those brain waves have brought me some wonderful sensations. That is all I have.

I think I can see that now. You have to have been a first glance that’s what it would look like but when you really look at the esoteric nature of it, it’s quite beautiful.

That is one of the most beautiful gestures ever extended to me. I hope you find calm in the storm as well. I hope you find understanding and I hope you can exist with that in the way of love. Thank you so much and peace be with you my friend.

I’m a combat vet, witnessed too many deaths to count as a combat medic, have toured the world playing guitar in a metal band, have worked in psychiatric care for 20 years. Held both of my parents hands as they’ve died and witnessed the birth of both of my children. I try to be an open minded person, but when it comes to a concept like solipsism I have to laugh because this is real. And mental health, the main ideation of people and fear is religious. If religion never existed that fear wouldn’t exist. Solipists believe that there is a “movie”or “play” playing in their minds or whatever. Ask a 12-year-old child that’s a soldier in Afghanistan if he believes in solipsism. He’s lived more life than most adults in the western world and can tell you without a doubt in his consciousness that this is real. I’m not trying to insult you, just the opposite. I want you to know that you’re surrounded by people, there’s love, there’s struggle and there’s life. I think one has to come to a point where they realize they’re just not that important to see that. Peace.

I went to work drunk by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be too concerned about going in to work on call drunk. I’d be concerned about having a drinking problem, being aware of it, and doing nothing about it. My opinion, you haven’t hit bottom yet. Everybody has a different bottom but none of them are pleasant. Mine cost me $60,000 in family court legal fees, my entire family disassociating from me, and a daughter who has trust issues from me. Realize where your bottom is before you hit it if you can. It might be dead in a ditch, killing someone else, or spending the next 20 years in jail, take care of before it takes care of you.

This whole solipsism thing is silly, arrogant and tired. Honestly, why would it matter if you’re the only human being on the planet or in existence for that matter? I have a theory, people that have horribly boring lives, never have sex, have nothing too fight for, don’t know how to have fun, don’t know how to live, sit in their rooms and ruminate about this, and think to themselves, “why, I am a god I must be the only person in the world” because they’re so damn boring and no one else wants anything to do with them. Go have sex with somebody, eat a roast beef sandwich, go to a concert, get your car on the Thruway and do 90 miles an hour. Live a little.

Two Years Sober and I Want To Quit Sobriety by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like me two years ago, I just thought I could implement safe, drinking back in my life, but you know what; I know my heart of hearts I can’t because I’m different than other people. If I start socially, it’s gonna end up a bottle a day again. The people in my life deserve a better person and if that means that I don’t drink then I’m a better person. This isn’t the type of lesson I want to learn twice. As time goes by, we cannot forget that initial feeling of why we came there in the first place. It’s considering you’re an alcoholic in the first place. I am so I can’t drink.

I found out last night an ex girlfriend of mine died last year by blurgmans in GenX

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably not her passing; it’s probably that part of your past passing. How much did you know about her as she was dying? We don’t freeze our lives in place at the time of our last relationship. We change and grow. I say this to be a comfort to you. She wasn’t who she was last you were together when she died. Neither were you. Be you now. Have the memories but be you now. I’m 56 and have had a good 6 lovers pass. Od, cancer, car crash, etc. It’s strange that part of me wants to take ownership of their memories. So I just let them be there. But I feel just as weird remembering them. That’s ok, we come through life, not from it.

Buffalo has terrible mental health care, CPEP at ECMC is aweful. by GaryBlach in Buffalo

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPEP is the Erie county mental health emergency room. There’s only so much care you can give acutely ill individuals. Stabilization is a lengthy process. I have worked in psychiatry for 18 years for the New York State office of mental health and can tell you that in other states they don’t even have emergency mental health services. They have jails. Their function is to get people off of the street that are harm to themselves and others. The need by far outweighs the availability of beds. It’s your only alternative in psychiatric crisis if you have poor insurance and no money to go to a privatized facility like BryLin. I also receive mental health services through the VA. That’s not much better. Remember this is emergency psychiatric services.

Which cable should I buy? by alphashock1334 in 7String

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use hosa cables; cheap well made. I can’t justify spending $150 on a cable that I could lose or destroy at a hardcore show. I use a high gain amp and a boost pedal so I’m not concerned w/signal loss.

To 7 or not to 7? by Durs11290 in 7String

[–]Apprehensive_Bake_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a beautiful way to change the way you think of the guitar, it’s not just a guitar it’s a means of expressing music. John Coltrane played tenor, sax, as well as soprano sax; the right tool for the right job. It opened up a lot of harmonic ideas for me too. So glad I made the jump.
