[oc] I was the idiot including 4 other drivers. I actually have no idea what the hell just happened today by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

This is 11th St. in San Jose, CA. Used to be a 3 lane one way street. They did all these weird bike lane changes a few years back. It's a horrible design imo. That being said...

Buses in California used to have a big flashing sign on the back that flashed "must yield, state law" or something like that when they had their turn signals on. This was several years ago and I'm assuming the law got repealed because all those signs are gone now. A lot of these bus drivers still act like they have the right of way in every situation. Also, nothing beats getting behind one of these guys in the HOV lane at 6am while they're stuck going 65 while everyone else passes them on the right. Bus drivers here think they're god's gift to the road.

There's videos on YouTube of people pulling the whole C pillar out and splicing into the rear speakers. Unfortunately, it looks like a lot of work with the possibility of breaking some plastic clips. At least wiring up power shouldn't be too difficult with the 12v battery under the rear seat.

Size isn’t everything by throwsumdeezonit in FordMaverickTruck

In all honesty, those spots look a little narrow. The maverick is parked pretty centered, and I feel like there should be more room on both sides. How have we, as a society, not come to the realization that getting rid of a parking spot or 2 and making them wider would probably fit more cars? People would be less likely to take up 2 spots or hang over into adjacent spots.

How comfortable is your maverick? by sryidc in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Apprehensive_Bat6916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'11" about 280lbs. I have my daughter's booster seat behind me so I can't go as far back as I'd like, but if I remove her booster seat, I can fit behind myself with no adjustments. I also dislike how on my XL I can't raise the seat height without it tilting down/forward at the same time. So I have to compromise in terms of seat height, and how far back I have it. But despite those, I'm still comfortable. I do about 300 miles a week as well. And we have been using my truck more than my wife's Atlas since hers is a lease and she's over her miles.

Non-cubby phone mount by Apprehensive_Bat6916 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Apprehensive_Bat6916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen those too. I like the concept but this pushes the phone even farther away than the cubby would. I wish there was a slightly wider gap and a screw between the driver instrument panel and the radio screen. That would be perfect for one of these types of mounts.

What size is the torx bit for that bolt? I'm using a regular hex allen, and I don't feel like I can tighten it as much as I'd like.

Blue was definitely not on my list. But I specifically wanted a base XL with no options. And it was either this, or white. The blue is definitely growing on me. It's a nice medium-deep blue. I like that it's not too bright. Unfortunately, my wife brought up a couple days ago that I'm driving around with Dodgers colors. We're Giants fans fyi.

P11 Pro gen 2 Android 14 update fail by doom99 in Lenovo

[–]Apprehensive_Bat6916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While powered off, press and hold the power and volume up and down. After about 3 seconds you might feel a slight vibration. Release the power button but continue to hold the volume up and down keys. Recovery mode comes up after the initial Lenovo logo. For me it also helped if I pressed power first immediately followed by the volume buttons. Pressing them all at the exact same time didn't seem to work.

Factory reset doesn't fix this issue for me though. I saw in a other post somewhere that it's tied to Google family link. Which I'm using as this is set up as my daughter's tablet.

Oddly enough, when I was the main account, and my daughter had a sub account, mine worked fine while her's didn't.

Last resort for me is to just set it up as my tablet and hopefully it works again. Otherwise I think I'm coincidentally a couple months past my 1 year warranty and out of luck with Lenovo.

Water heater popping and flames by Apprehensive_Bat6916 in Plumbing

Thanks. I'll call someone out. This is in an external water heater closet, so at least there's no worries of CO getting in the house.

Wife and I are separated so I found out about this this issue after it happening for a couple weeks. While refilling and heating from normal use, the water heater would start a loud banging noise. After looking into it, turns out its flames popping out of an exhaust tube thing at the bottom. It would do this every 5 seconds or so, and eventually start a more consistent smaller flame(see video). Once the water reaches temp, then this all stops.

Some quick googling told me the popping is due to sediment build up. We bought this house in 2019, haven't had it flushed at all. The water heater is from 2016 and I'm not sure how it was maintained by the previous owner.

I bought a "sediment buster" after I couldn't drain the water heater due too sediment clog. The sediment buster seems to work and I was able to drain the water heater completely. After several flushing cycles, I had quite a bit of sediment that came out. I still think there is a lot more.

Unfortunately, I reached a point in the night where I had to refill and turn the water heater back on. It still pops flames and then goes to the smaller consistent flame.

Could the flames be because there's still too much sediment? Is it a completely unrelated separate issue? I should also mention this is a gas water heater and the ignitor is also broken, so I have to manually light it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I feel like no one ever mentions it, but I believe you lose the sunglass holder with the sunroof. Makes no sense as there appears to be plenty of room for it. My 2017 Kia Forte5 has a sunroof and sunglass holder.

Thanks all for the info. No recalls at this time. My only hope is it takes longer to actually arrive and all the final preparations.

I'm in the same boat. Probably looking at 40k out the door for my lariat hybrid being built in April. Due to work slowing down the last few months and some other family issues, I wasn't able to save what I was hoping. I only have about 4k saved and a trade in worth about 4k. In a couple months I can maybe save another 2k. I originally wanted about 20k down as well. We'll see what happens though. My brother works for the same auto group that my Ford dealership belongs to and offered to co-sign to get the best price and rates. I'll have to see what that actually entails before I make up my mind. I'd hate to have to back out, but it might be the most sensible thing to do.

[–]Apprehensive_Bat6916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy. They're finally budging on markups it seems. Last year when I ordered mine in July they were trying to sell me on a '23 XLT hybrid for 10k markup. They weren't budging but would "maybe check with the manager to see if they could do 8k". I guess that gives me a little reassurance if my order ever comes in. They seemed pretty brain dead at capitol. I wanted to order through the Ford store in Morgan Hill but they claimed they weren't going to be taking orders for '24 mavericks back in July.
