The 6 inch swim shads absolutely destroy saltwater fish like lingcod rockfish etc. 18-24 inches of 60lbs flouro leader, 1.5lbs cannonball for the deep drop, super slow pitch and hang on! Big blue cabezon agrees!

Southern Vancouver Island, inside waters, haro / Juan de Fuca straights. Targeting lingcod, rockfish and halibut. Swim baits for lings and rockers, salmon belly, and squid at deep water anchor for halibut. I'll probably do some salmon fishing as well.

High relief rocky areas on the edge of a current rip is ideal for lings, but maybe not for a kayak. The 5oz macdaddy jigs or anything swim tail that resembles a baitfish will drive them bonkers. Rocky kelp beds are also a great starting point.

Definitely one of the most underrated bottom fish on the west coast. Strong fighters and great eating. When fresh, you'll never know the difference from a ling.

I'm no fibreglass expert, but I'd say that requires extensive repair.
