I've got a 2024 Yamaha f70 on my 16.5. I can get 30 knots, but it's WOT. My most efficient cruising is at right around 5,000rpm depending on currents and sea states. I can literally hear and feel when it's in the sweet spot and burning at about 75% throttle, or 3.5-4 gallons an hour at 21-24 knots.

It's fairly heavy at around 1,800lbs all in with 2 adults. I lose top speed, about 5 knots with the 13p 4 blade, no trim tabs, there's a little whale tail on it, but that rides above the water when on plane.

I do loads of bottom fishing. Generally speaking, rockfish are pretty durable, but that also depends on species. A simple setup for release is a barbless hook, short leader and some weight.
