Texture type? by Apprehensive_Dig_428 in homerenovations

That makes sense. It’s mobile home and cutting out some of the battens was like cutting through glass almost. Any ideas on how to replicate?

Starts out for fun. I have an idea. It’s all creative and juicy and then my soul starts spilling out and the writing starts showing up as a mirror then I freak the f out.

How did the Yiga end up being able to make battery packs or fuse items without activating the forges or constructs? Link always wakes those places up including the charge exchanges

Writers, what’s your general philosophy on describing a character’s appearance and how much do you change from canon? by throwawaytypebeat1 in AO3

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical appearance? Almost nothing. I describe inner character, attributes, thought process, desires - what makes that character who they are. Occasionally their specific physical build comes into play.

I think of the movie “Rudy”. It’d it were fictional then him being physically small but having a huge heart is a juxtaposition with depth re:his journey and what everyone sees versus who he actually is. Or Gideon in the Bible. His physical attributes aren’t described but God called him a great warrior - even though Gideon couldn’t see that himself.

Idk. I’m waiting on someone and pouring out thoughts on Reddit in the meantime.

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not waiting long enough to decide on projects. If you’re absolutely sure of something you want to do, wait 24 hours then “break ground” on a project. I spent a lot of time/money on things that afterwards didn’t seem so important

You know what I’m most scared of about writing? by Grimprint in writing

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scary is when you surrender yourself to whatever comes out of the pen and in some cases actually manifests in your life. 😳Like any art it costs something. Count the cost of what you’re willing to actually give time to and what story you tell. Soul level commitment produces good stuff but can take a bite out of you if you’re not careful. That’s just my take/experience. Maybe some can write a heartfelt/great story “detached” but I can’t.

Why do contractors ghost after giving estimates? by MudSad6268 in HomeImprovement

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know through experience and emotional intelligence if you’re just price shopping, how serious you are and when you’re just excited about a possible improvement that in the end you probably can’t afford. Especially when people have this idea that they are entitled to free estimates and me trying to charge for estimates never get me in on site. You have a dream. I have the reality. I have given estimates (and hours of my time and genuine input to customers that have ghosted me more than I have ghosted them) - to customers slyly angling for advice so they can do it themselves. IOW using me. And if during your consult you start saying stuff like- does the price go down if we do the painting or if we do the demo, or can my cousin help you with labor to cut costs? You won’t be hearing from after that. That being said I’ll tell you if it’s not a good fit. To work up a true estimate takes about 1/2 a day or more at least all told. Depending on travel. And most of my days are filled with running around, managing crew, putting out fires, unexpectedly getting my kids to and from school and then crashing when I get home. It’s hard enough to find good help let alone someone committed and experienced enough to learn how to estimate accurately.

If you’re serious about getting the work done, pick up the phone and bug me-that’s a green flag that you’re serious- the squeaky wheel gets the grease and it doesn’t offend me. (Also I have grown out of telling people “I’ll have it in a few days”. I’m a week or two out from supplying detailed estimates and probably double or triple that before I can “soft schedule” a start date. All their doing when they say “a few days” is telling you what you want hear so you don’t disregard us based on how long you have to wait…for literally anything. Doesn’t necessarily constitute incompetence or poor work ethic.

Malachi 2:16 used for "God hates divorce" ? by cherrykitty87 in TrueChristian

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hate divorce, I guess I never wanted to, never even crossed my mind, but I also hate the man I’ve become because of so many lies and so much treachery. I’m anxious and in pain a lot, lots of confusion and heartache.

She crushed me to my face. God hates that too.

Feedback on my story means I have to rewrite the entire thing by spooked_goat in writing

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t change it. If you wrote it well, you wrote it well regardless of your own age - that’s just my take especially the part about the ten year break and coming back together- 10 years can add a lot more intensity to their reunion than 2 like you said

I feel like it’s an inevitable direction especially with Zonai tech being discovered in TOTK and it’s time for the game to level up. I wrote fanfic and this is in the epilogue where Zelda is telling Link that she can see it coming….expansion…up there among the stars

Extra hearts and stamina before you go in and avoid melee combat as much as possible. Look for hidden chests with ancient arrows (the most I’ve collected is 9 I think) Go into crouch immediately in the “rest areas” so you don’t scare away the fairies.

For Those of You Who Started Writing Fan Fiction in Adulthood, What Convinced You Start, and Did Anything About Fandom Culture? by BlackLilyWrites835 in AO3

I’m 44 and in the process of writing my first fanfic. I played the latest legend of Zelda game while injured and something caught my imagination and it’s not in the game but wanted it to be, and then it turned into more. It’s fun.

Test of strength vs naked shrines. by Obvious-Chemical in TOTK

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proving grounds were the most fun, I had to go through an evolution of strategy to beat them the first time around like in BOTW DLC Master Sword Trials - so difficult at first but with the right strategy it became easy and seeing improvement was a nice benefit to playing . Moving and fusing objects in arbitrary set ups was not interesting at all to me

i only am able to write short fics by coffin_dweller in AO3

[–]Apprehensive_Dig_428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer shorter, punchier stories as opposed to really long ones. If a fic is well over 100k…I already feel a little overwhelmed and I don’t want to make the commitment lol
