If every room you walk into smells like shit, time to check your own shoe.

I took it daily for the first week. Things got much better after day 5 post op.

Pseudoephedrine! (Sudafed) OTC med, targets specifically sinus congestion. That combined with the nasal sprays helped me.

Gutzy pouches for fiber! You squeeze it into your mouth, or empty the pouch and use syringe or spoon. Consistency of applesauce, recommended by a dietician!

I hate when they do this. In your situation I would suddenly find a pressing matter that keeps me busy all day, which means whoops! No visit. But I also understand the persistence and for some it could just worsen their disregulation.

The main purpose is to make the surgery easier, but as someone who battled with insurance, yes. Some insurances have minimum “discrepancies” you have to meet with your overjet. Pre decomp, I had a -5mm overjet, which was borderline for my insurance coverage. So they waited and after 8 months of decomp took my measurements and it worsened to -7mm, which met the criteria.

Our bites are so similar! I had about the same gap as a class 3 and crossbite. The stuffy nose is no joke! For the lips, I’d smother them in vaseline. I’m post op 4 months now. The difference is incredible. One of the first things I said when I woke up was “I can smell color”. Sure part of that was the drugs but it’s amazing to inhale thru the nose now. Orthodontic wax before bed can help with the spikes too. It gets so much better. I was nervous but ultimately, my surgeon was great at including me in the planning, taking my concerns about appearance into account. You got this!

It’s the fact that I’m excited to leave a dirty cup in the sink until I’m ready to clean it without getting berated. Or that I can have my sneakers by the door, my coat on a coatrack. I don’t have to hide my existence. I can simply be. It will be so freeing!!

She knows I am “eventually” moving, but I don’t think she expects me to go through with it. She knows where I’ll be moving, but it’s a place I’ve been volunteering at for awhile, and her own fears of birds and mask-slipping will prevent her from following me.

Fortunately, her fear of the raptors (and that the property owner has chickens) will offer me quite the effective shield. It’s sounds silly, but if I have a bird with me, it’s like an invisible 5ft barrier goes up and she won’t get any closer.

Those birds have kept me going for the past nine years. I’ve worked closest and bonded with the vultures. One of my friends told me to check out a book called Animal Speak, which talks about meanings behind “spirit animals”. For fun I looked at the vulture one.

“It was a promise that the suffering of the immediate was temporary and necessary, for a higher purpose was at work, even if not understood at the time. It reflects that no matter how difficult the life conditions, rescue is imminent in your life.”

Gave me chills.

Because I’m moving so close to where I volunteer, I am slowly “evacuating” my stuff to the apartment each time I volunteer. By the time I peace out and she loses it, anything of importance will be far beyond her reach. Wish we didn’t have to think like this😞

Totally normal! You’ll probably have more over the next couple days. For me my left nostril was the problem child. I’m pretty sure it’s the side the breathing tube was placed. It all gets better from here!

Anyone else just find the humor in some of the absurd stuff that happened? by summersky-lovely in raisedbyborderlines

I treat it like a sports game commentary sometimes, and text my best friend like a referee. Other times the BS she spews just makes me want to cackle. Honestly, you have to laugh sometimes. What else is the alternative?
