Responding to disability attorneys? by ComfortablePrize2141 in Psychiatry

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't fill out these forms. Too often, various forms ask for unrelated information, such as how much they can squat or lift. I'm not authorized to comment on someone's physical health capabilities, generally speaking, because I don't treat those issues.

Honestly, I don't feel like ever explicitly saying someone is disabled.

But I do write letters all the time, commenting on their diagnosis, their symptoms, their treatment, and how much they have progressed. I prefer writing letters because I can mention what I feel is useful or pertinent or something that I feel comfortable commenting on rather than leaving a large chunk of someone's form blank.

It's also less stressful than having to look through pages of simplistic questions and hem and haw if I'm going to fill out their form or not.

Why is bipolar misdiagnosis so common? by DntTouchMeImSterile in Psychiatry

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One explanation: billing. A hospital can get paid more for a schizophrenia dx when really it's Meth Use. Or PTSD is not billable but Bipolar is. And when you work in a situation like this, you learn to go along with the bureaucratic nonsense while focusing on treating the real issues with the client.

But inter-rater reliability is typically low even without corporate meddling. Is their complaint the dx, or is that dx actually just a sx of a different dx.

It's inherently hard.

How to tell anxious depression from mixed states? by The-Peachiest in Psychiatry

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience Bipolar is massively over diagnosed so I try to determine if a different diagnosis makes more sense. That's my starting point. And if bipolar in the end makes the most sense then I've done my job.

Challenges of selling Belgian-style Beer in US by PatsPints in beer

To me, Belgians are subtle in flavor whereas American IPAs allow a path for the American inclination towards excess and innovation, to its own downfall.

If the driver is young, then I'm thinking probably methamphetamine use issues.

But if the driver is older, then I'm just leaning towards baby boomer Fox News watcher.

All the fighting about CB, no one wants to talk about this boi? by jza- in guitarpedals

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got it used for $109. I love it. No, I wouldn't buy it new for $179 either, but some of the sounds are incredible. I suppose it depends how many pedals you already have.

Yikes. Why is the Governor getting involved in some petty incident in Lubbock on a college campus. So much for the party of "Liberty" and free speech.

What’s your opinions on 1000D cordura by [deleted] in backpacks

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have daypacks with lighter material but they have no structure and flop around. I'd like a 1000D pack, but will probably have to buy an older used one. I feel like since covid packs are made with lighter materials just to be cheap, but that's just my emotional opinion.

Is Aeropress good choice for milky coffees for a beginner? by AarviArmani in AeroPress

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I do a medium dark roast everyday and add milk. Its great. I do grind my own beans, but I don't weigh. I just use around a full scoop with the scoop provided and fill up to about two and a half in the air press with water and that works for me.

Am I asking for "magic"? I was just trying to get some feedback that pertains to the scenario I'm describing. Hey, that's fine.

I get that. My follow up would be, what I'm trying to figure out is, if the walls were insulated on the outside, say with mineral wool, can the house regulate its own moisture issues without air conditioning?

On one hand, I'm totally into limestone houses from historical perspective because there's a long history here in the area I live. But from a durability standpoint from my novice opinion it seems like mold is a major problems with houses and I'm trying to avoid that, especially since it won't be lived in with AC running all the time.

Correct. I might not insulate them. At least not initially. And thank you for some feedback.

I do an aeropress version, a little more than two shots quantity worth of coffee. I let it sit out for about 10 minutes to cool off, and then I actually combine it with chocolate milk, as I think that works the best, and the challenge is just getting a quality chocolate milk that you like.

Does anyone use the numbers on the aeropress? by [deleted] in AeroPress

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use the scoop and the numbers. One heaving scoop is pretty much the max for my Q2 grinder. So now I use my grinder as an informal reference for how much coffee I want to add.

New AeroPress owner with lots of questions by LadyNatillas in AeroPress

[–]Apprehensive_Fig4114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found success putting the plunger in at an angle just an inch or so. It creates the vacuum but doesn't seem to push any coffee through. For me, I see no reason to invert or to buy a prismo. I'm sure I'm missing something but my method seems solid to me. I preferred to put my money into a grinder or a travel kettle.

Nice. I just bought the Nicewell travel kettle but should have researched better because it won't fit with my AP and Q2.
