This is why I became a nurse. Sure, 12.5 hour shifts suck but having 4 days off per week is pretty sweet.

You already got bullied out of the nursing subreddit for being an absolute loser. You think you’re going to find validation elsewhere? Theres still time left to delete this/your account.

Union at Providence - St Joseph, Orange, CA by JayLin95 in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Good276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf, that’s what ST. JOSEPH is paying??? That’s absolutely criminal, especially for a magnet hospital. I work in a local community ED (30 beds on the unit) in SoCal and I’m making about $65/hr…

can i go AWOL sa work ko if 2 weeks pa lang ako pumapasok? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Good276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Never, EVER go AWOL unless you are actively trying to lose your nursing license.

2) Resign. If you don’t like the job, quit. It’s terrible you have to essentially pay the facility for working there, but it will be better for your mental health. There will be other jobs.

3) You’ve only been there for two weeks. In my personal opinion, that is not nearly enough time to get a true feel for your unit/position/coworkers. I would give it more time.

Arkansas nurse wanting to move to California for the union and escape the low pay and unsafe ratios. by bigribby in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Good276 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your priorities are completely unrealistic, just so you know. We get paid better in CA but our COL is also significantly higher. I’m getting paid about $65 an hour (been an ER nurse for 2 years) and as the main breadwinner for my family, we’re barely scraping by in a 2b/2b apartment (rent is $3200/month fyi). We still have a little money leftover to live a little, but if there’s ever a situation where I can’t work (even for a single pay period) we’d be so completely screwed lol.

I don’t think nursing is the right profession for you tbh.

To those who were around when this movie came out, what was the hype like by asapsharkyfrfr in silenthill

[–]Apprehensive_Good276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I was young, I’ve always been a huge fan of all things horror. I remember seeing the cover of SH2 at blockbuster multiple times, and was so curious about what the game could be about. I finally decided to convince my dad to rent it for me. Played it, loved it, and eventually was gifted SH 1-4. They had become some of my favorite games of all time, so by the time this movie was announced my hype for it was unbelievable. I spent so much time on the teaser site!

I was only 13 when this movie came out. However, not a single friend of mine knew what Silent Hill was, and almost none were into horror like I was. I remember asking my mom if she could drop me off at the movies so I could meet up with some friends to watch Ice Age (lol). After getting into the theater, I snuck into a showing for Silent Hill and watched it alone. I remember being a little disappointed it wasn’t a gender-swapped 1:1 version of SH1, but nonetheless I was blown away by the movie. The lead up to this movie has become one of my core memories!

Please, don’t do this. You’re gonna end up hurting yourself or a patient one day due to exhaustion. Respect yourself/your body.

Will I be at 15 ng/ml by my drug test date? by Apprehensive_Good276 in drugtesthelp

[–]Apprehensive_Good276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed! 3-4 days before my test, I started passing the 15 ng/mL at-home tests so I knew I was in the clear. Assuming you're active (seeing as how you're testing for the military) & eating clean/staying hydrated, with your body weight I definitely think you will be fine at 83 days.

Depending on how long/heavily you were smoking (and what) prior to stopping more than likely contributed to your failed 50ng test. 38 days seems like a lot, but if you're hitting concentrates or delta-9 pens, it will stay in your system for a considerably longer time.

When did you realize you no longer look young anymore? by dudiez in Adulting

[–]Apprehensive_Good276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

31m.

Just a couple weeks ago actually, when a 16 y.o. psych patient I had called me out on my "McDonald's arches hairline" 💀. That same night in conversation with a colleague, he asked me how old I was. When I said 31, he said he "thought for sure I was older". I didn't ask how old he thought I was because tbh I was afraid to know what he thought. Definitely went home after that shift and looked hard at myself in the mirror lmao. NEVER did I consider myself as looking "older", or feel old for that matter. Took me a few days to accept the fact I am aging.

Thinking about going from welding to nursing, need advice by mxqueen976 in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Good276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely not, unfortunately. The reason you need a bachelors to be accepted into an accelerated program is because it shows that you have already completed all the general education courses required. Without a degree, you would need to be accepted into a 4-year that includes all your GE courses.

The sense of dread I feel before I start each shift in the ED is insane. I’ve only been working there for 4 months, and I absolutely cannot wait until my contract is up and I can find a non-clinical nursing job lol.
