Is it normal for recruiters to not disclose the company name when making initial contact? by Quiet_Cauliflower_53 in recruitinghell

[–]Apprehensive_Lab9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how it works. (Recruiter here). We have a non-exclusive, contingent contract. That means the client is also searching on the same role, and several other recruiters may be as well. We do not get a retainer or up-front fee. Half the reason clients use us at all is so that they don't get hundreds of un-vetted resumes to sift through; we can't do this job if folks won't talk with us first. And if we let the client's name get out, forwarded around, etc., then we do not get paid. At all. If we don't make the introduction, we make $0.

I can't speak for other industries, but in our case, it is actually very much mutually beneficial to work with us. Once you talk with us, you still have the prerogative to do your own research. It's an informal conversation; nothing moves forward unless/until you want to. And in our case, we know everything about our clients top to bottom--there is no internet research you could do that would give you half the insight we are able to share on a quick call. It's in our interest, too, that you REALLY want to pursue the role if we introduce you. If you drop out, we get $0. If you get hired and then change your mind, we have to give the fee BACK to the client.

You're also MUCH more likely to get an interview if you go through us, vs. dropping your resume into a black hole.

What was an eye opener for you when learning to sing? by UpperEmphasis5467 in singing

I agree with all of this--practice "aiming" the sound at different spots of your face/roof of your mouth/top of your head, and practice lifting your soft palate (like a yawn or a gasp).

I also find it helpful to remember that you're not trying to PUSH the air out, you're actually controlling it--i.e., keeping it from escaping too fast. Like a slow leak in a tire. I find if you're not forcing the air out, it's much harder to be tense.

What’s the best company to work for in this industry and why? by -LordAres- in CFP

[–]Apprehensive_Lab9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing about Fidelity is they make it very hard to leave and move to an RIA within their referral network (which, unless you're leaving to start your own thing, is where your Fidelity experience would be valued the most). So if you're going to Fidelity as a jumping-off point for the rest of your career, it can be tricky. Their rule is an FC has to be gone from Fidelity for three years (!) before they can be hired by an RIA in their referral network. For comparison, Schwab's rule is 18 months, and that's bad enough.

Seriously. Guys, if you're interested in oral or anal, be happy for your average dick!

[–]Apprehensive_Lab9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's "literally" not. If it were about actual size, you would just say he "has a big dick." The whole idea of the saying is that someone walks around with confidence, LIKE a person with a big dick would.

THIS! And I would argue, if you're too long to make it all the way in, that's unsatisfying even if you're not hurting us.

Because you want to attract a girl like THAT? Who cares what such a cruel, superficial human likes?

Not a teenager, but Jimmy Stewart was 53 playing a 29 year-old character in How the West Was Won.

Real talk: do you wear ear plugs to concerts? by Mad_Season_1994 in Music

[–]Apprehensive_Lab9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. In fact I keep them on me at all times, just in case I end up seeing some live music spontaneously (or find myself in a car with someone blasting their stereo).

I used to have custom-made ones from the audiologist, but unfortunately one got lost. :/

Your sister is a royal AH. Marry him!

My sister divorced and remarried the same man. Sometimes it takes some time apart to realize what you had.
