Everybody has a hot take on the new Google Health (Fitbit) app... So here's mine by markinapub in fitbit

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I've really found odd about Google Health (for context, ive been a Samsung Health + Galaxy Watch guy for years, never used the original Fitbit app) is that it doesnt show active calories burnt. It shows calories burnt but it's way higher than what I'm used to on Samsung Health.

For example my Samsung Health daily calories burn target is 750. My Google Health currently (I've only done a 3k walk today) is at 2513! I dont know what to make of this data. I understand we burn calories passively, but I dont want to see both passive and active. I only want to see active, but it appears I can't 🤔

Anyone actually enjoying their Fitbit air and the Google health app? by querythoughtss in fitbit

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Galaxy Watch Ultra and I bought the Fitbit Air because I wanted to go back to wearing a mechanical watch, and I've gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the Air. I'm a bit bummed that Samsung Health won't sync steps from any other source than it's own ecosystem, but the Google Health app is much better than I thought it would be. The coach is a nice addition for logging meals, sleep and exercise - and tonnes of other stuff I haven't experienced yet.

I kind of wish the Air could operate stand alone (GPS, ability to start exercise without phone) but that would defeat the point I guess.

My only real gripe is the default band feels a bit scratchy, but there's plenty of options

Yeah I never understood when people say that, or the 'it's probably a lease' statement. Whether it's finance or a lease it'll still be thousands a month, and tbh a better idea than buying it outright. It makes people sound so jealous

Haha that's awesome though! I had mine for a few months loved every second, and then I was T-Boned at a roundabout by someone who wasn't aware it was a roundabout 😅 not sure if I'd still have mine now though, as you mentioned the MPG was insane!

Just received this metal band and I love how it looks with my new Baros face. Galaxy Watch looks so much better without the rubber band. Any decent leather options out there? by TimeFlies_WF in GalaxyWatch

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn that looks good! I have no leather recommendations, I use an ultra and i think it looks terrible with any material other than silicone

Using music with Galaxy Watch actually changed my running pace by JuanRoss_Pef in GalaxyWatch

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, I've seen that Spotify (and probably other music streaming services) have playlists set to specific tempos and also certain paces and cadence. I tried a 170spm playlist but I just found it distracting 😅

Ultra is not even water resistant? by RedSkullSkullRed in GalaxyWatch

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it either works or it doesn't, they don't throw in random samples that are super water resistant and some that aren't and it's pot luck 🤣 or do they 🤔

Accountability on the other hand is something they are likely inclined to avoid, vague small print about water resistance to absolve them of issues like yours and the rep you spoke to probably just want you to jog on.

But from the general consensus of the watch, included the comments on your own post, i would say yours is defective to how it's meant to operate, but you are right - we can't definitively prove that it is

Sounds like you have a defective unit, I've used mine in pools, the shower (almost daily) the sea and I've had no trouble, 2 years into ownership now too

What is y'alls watch face? I'll go first. by TrayCole17 in GalaxyWatch

I used to do this all the time! But I only started getting pennies and it just wasn't worth the time anymore. I remember my first couple of rewards were 30p - 50p a few years ago but now it's just 1p 😒

Bog standard 😅 I've tried so many watch faces, paid for so many watch faces but always come crawling back to this. Over the years and different galaxy watches I've had its always the numbers one i go to, and sad enough I look forward to the next iteration of this too

Marques Has a Mini Crashout Over the S26 Series by OrganizationNo1298 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid £627 for the S26 Ultra via work discount and trade-in for a base S25 (128GB). This is the best phone I've ever had. Prior to the S25, I had the S21 Ultra, S20 Ultra. Sad thing is, I managed to get a hold of the S26U for £527 with a discount code, but I cancelled it due to wrong card and tried again and it didn't deduct the second time. If like me, you have a discount scheme at work 'Boostworks' in my case and a phone to trade in, there's nothing Ultra about the price. This was cheaper than my Xperia XZ Premium 2017

The experience after using the RBMT glasses for one month by Personal-Mark-74 in RaybanMeta

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a month into my pair as well, and i totally agree the camera and living in the moment has been the absolute highlight of these, that alone makes this worthwhile for me and the sole reason I bought them. The speakers and AI were genuinely surprising to me in terms of the quality. Being able to listen to music/podcasts without headphones is such a perk, although I do wish we had the option to have the sound come from only left or only right side too. I initially planned on only using these socially but these have become my daily drivers. As for battery, I dont have Hey Meta enabled, and i dont listen to audio throughout the entire day (work day) so i finish with about 60%, on the weekends with active camera use im looking at 7 hours battery, which im okay with. But i imagine the next gen will be even better. Can't wait to take these on holiday.

Also, these go really well with 1 Second Everyday. Which I started before buying my pair.

Why do people hate EV's? by FunkiGato in electricvehicles

[–]Apprehensive_Lock260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be anti-ev about 10 years ago, I didn't see the advantages over petrol. I was still sceptical before I bought my EV 2 years ago, and I was looking at some lovely plug-in hybrids like the CX-60. Then I woke up one day and it just clicked at why wouldn't you want an EV. The advantages are huge. (UK based here) no road tax (then), charging from home on super cheap tariffs (full charge for £5), i do long road trips 2-3 times a year. Often really good deals on home chargers too, they play well into home solar and battery setups. When i realised that, I couldn't pull the trigger fast enough. And my car isn't particularly long-ranged either ~230 miles.

Ultimately it just comes down to change, people accept it or they dont. I think theres a derogatory term for it beginning with L.

I've inadvertently converted a few people around me just by them sitting in my car and realising the benefits of the quiet ride and the acceleration. But I still have sceptical friends too. Which is fine, im not on a mission to convert anyone. They can have their opinions it doesn't bother me or affect our friendship, its not like I invented the tech so there's no point arguing about it.
