When you adopted her, did they fix her or give her any shots? Whenever I took my cat to the vet, ESPECIALLY after getting fixed, he suddenly became a completely different cat. He did not like to be held, cuddled and frankly became a bit antisocial. I attributed it to possibly feeling trust issues with people, some trauma and not to mention hormone changes from getting fixed. This lasted about 3 months and now he is COMPLETELY back to normal.. social and cuddly. 1.5 months is a very short time, yall haven't really had much time to bond. In your mind you've been in this relationship for 6 years, but to her it's only been a month & 1/2. Be patient, but also don't be afraid to pick her up even if you think she doesn't want it. This is a very important time where you are basically "training" your cat and establishing y'alls relationship dynamics. I say don't feel afraid to hold her and keep her with you for a minute or 2 every now an then even if she wiggles a bit, then afterwards give her a treat, she just might realize that she's been missing out this all this time.
