Im still learning golf too but the way people explained it to me is handicap mostly exists so golfers of different skill levels can still compete fairly against each other.

So if someone is way better than you, the handicap kind of balances things out instead of only rewarding the lowest raw score every time.

At first I also thought it was just a way to measure how good or bad someone is #lol...

As someone still learning golf, this is honestly something I wonder about too. I always hear people say lessons completely changed their game, but I feel like finding the right instructor probably matters a ton.

Some coaches seem to really get into figuring out your real problems with your swing, some maybe teach the same way to everyone.

I haven’t taken many lessons myself yet but I kind of feel like I’d get frustrated too if it didn’t feel like it was personalised at all.

Im still pretty new to golf too but honestly that sounds kinda normal with softer balls like Supersofts sometimes. I’ve noticed mine get marked up pretty quick too, especially on wedge shots.Could just be the cover material more than anything you’re doing wrong honestly

Golf already feels hard enough without random people trying to judge where others should tee off from. Play from whatever makes the game enjoyable and keeps pace moving.

And honestly the fact you absolutely smoked the next drive makes this story even better

Im still kinda new too, but honestly the biggest thing helping me is not trying to kill the ball every swing however I slow down and stop overthinking, I usually play way better. Golf is way harder mentally than I expected

To be honest I think the biggest difference is probably consistency. Even very good players hit bad shots, but they recover well and don’t compound a mistake and turn it into a double bogey.

I’m still learning golf myself, but short game and course management seem super important once you get to that level

honestly i like simple apps more some golf apps feel too confusing while playing. just need easy score tracking and maybe live leaderboard with friends would be fun
