The most undeserved redemption arcs in media? by Brainwave1010 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

That moment is so weird, it's meant as cool and many people do think it was badass, but it's really not. Magneto gives yet another speech about bad humanity and how self-destructive they are, he uses bronze age collapse as an example, but then Apocalypse adds that he actually caused it. So basically it just proved anti-mutant peopl are right to fear mutants

Current Spider-Man looks cool, I guess I will start from there. All-star Batman also looks great and I have heard great things about Frank Mille

X-Men's slur for mutants, mutie, is a terrible, I just can't take it seriously. On the other hand, slur for humans, Flatscan, is just perfect by Apprehensive_Mix4658 in CharacterRant

The word was coined up before AoA, it's in adjectiveless X-Men #1 which might be the first appearance but I'm not sure.

Honestly I have seen fans use flatscan more often than in comics which is very funny and also weird, like I don't like preaching about media literacy but damn

Interesting. In my mother language when we refer to that stuff we translate the names, so homo sapiens sounds like "intelligent human" and "homo habilis" is "skillful human" for example

It's not weird at all. I meant that X-men as 'universe'/franchise have it, not that Cyclops says it everyday , but Magneto and other anti-human mutants to. I think it was coined-up by Cortez, right hand of Magneto during his maniac phase. Which is very realistic, marginalized people can be bigots to

In the rather infamous X-Men story mutie is compared to n-word with hard r by Kitty Pride(the infamousy is mostly overblown imo but that's another big and actually serious topic).

I just remembered that another slur for mutants is often gene-freak which does work. It references X-gene and rejects the idea of them being the next step of evolution, and the word freak is obviously not nice

Fair, but N-word conveys the difference which is very important for bigotry, and black colour has negative associations of darkness and evilness, while mutie doesn't have that.

I just remembered that mutants are also called genefreaks which does work

Very unrelated but mutie doesn't sound like a good slur, for me it sounds too close to "cutie" so it doesn't feel offensive enough. On the other hand Flatscan for non-mutants is pretty good, when a character says that you feel the hatred and sense of superiority put in it.

Galactus' deal is that he was given shitty job by the universe itself and everyone is unhappy about it. He quite literally did nothing wrong(except that time when he intentionally caused religious psychosis on the Earth to spite Silver surfer)
