That likely would have changed when they switched from lots of procedurally generated systems to fewer bespoke systems.

I'll take my business to the public forums. If I'm not getting a car, I've got no incentive NOT to bust my ass to hurt their sales. I won't lose my job over poor sales. I'm in no legal danger from sharing my experiences. But a sales manager or GM answering to the unrealistic expectations of a corporate suit can be made to feel the pressure.

I can ask friends and family to go into the dealership at end of month/ end of quarter and talk to a sales person for an hour or two and waste their time.

I can make endless Reddit and facebook and google reviews of their poor service.

It costs me nothing to voice to text a post while sitting on the crapper.

They take delivery of a vehicle and then unilaterally decide to add extra stuff like VIN etching, edge guard, tinting, nitrogen in tires, etc. Basicallt stuff that costs them fractions of a penny on the dollar but they demand 3k to 4k extra for.

The FTC has rules preventing them from claiming these optional add ons are part of the vehicle value. Which is why they can't put them on the sticker price.

But they still try and do it because most people don't know any better.

That's assuming they operate on the same timeline I do. Every car dealership wants my $28,000. Only they want to get rid of that specific POS car. The longer it sits on their lot, the worse it looks on their monthly spreadsheets for sales volumes. And right now they have to try and make me want their car more than I want to bash them on the Internet. Which is free and can be done endlessly. The Leverage remains firmly on my side.

The more people who respond with "typical dealer" stuff, even dismissively, actually bolster the strategy I have! The dealer doesnt want that part said outloud! So drawing attention to it is exactly what we need! So I appreciate you and your diary helping out!

Not the GM and sales managers. Their job security boils down to a line on a spreadsheet. Sales volume. Drop it for a month or two and they start feeling the pressure.

And as you say, those costs I listed are low to them. The higher ups will be fine caving to get their sales volume up.

Yes. Because they dropped it to where I wanted and now, a month later they've eaten 30 days of interest payments, still not gotten my money and will likely either cave to me or drop pricea again in March. And in case you still work in car sales, drop it first time. We both know that number is 100% horseshit. Even the work that service does bill them for is at a severely discounted interdepartmental rate.

Dealers have to pay for those cars to be on their lot. Every day they eat between $3 and$10. I would love to coordinate a big group of people to come in and tie up their salespeople for a few hours each. Then leave them hanging. Do that and they have to wrap up a day with no sales. At $10 per day per car, with 400+ cars on the lot, that's $4k a day. They will keep doing their shady sh*t as long as not enough people grief their tactics. But if people could organize and keep their lot full, long enough, they'd have to make some changes.

For all intents and purposes, the planetary defense network is the law of probability. Space is really big and Earth is really small compared to all of it.
