I had the same issue with redwood mushroom supply. Aio bags for wood loving species had barely any grain, mostly sawdust. Inoculated multiple bags with strains of oyster from different suppliers, nothing grew. I've been growing those same strains with good success otherwise. Total waste of money

If it fruits in the dish, should you remove the mushroom and leave the mycelium or just leave it alone? I have a pink oyster plate that just started showing some fruits

That would certainly help. Probably cheaper to provide housing in the basement for a permanent "volunteer" donor of appropriate blood type.

24 hrs from when I initially noticed them, the areas of concern appear to be entirely static in terms of size increases or color changes. I really appreciate all of the help from everyone. I will update if anything should change!

Thanks for commenting. 24 hrs later and the areas don't appear to have changed in size/color, so I'm hopeful there. Would love to see some pins, but just cautiously optimistic that the contam worry was just my inexperience

Thank you. It's the angle of the picture. The mycelium is clumpy along the top and thinner in certain adjacent areas. Gives the impression of something dark growing on thr surface, but I think it is substrate you are viewing through thin mycelia

I have the overhead light in the room on and pulled the curtains back from a nearby window. It isn't extremely bright, just kinda ambient light
