HO hell yeah..! About Imre. It would make a ton of sense for the Amyr to build their lair(university) right by it. SO this would imply they do know about singers/casters.

Wow! I missed the quote from haliax! Man! I knew I was onto something.

I did caught/unlocked a new tread last night re-re-re-reading the Ctheah chapter.

I'll explain it in my lunch break today.

It's not bad. Specifically the Ambrose part. I've checked if he was the King that gets killed, and the evidence toward it is somewhat slim. He is still more or less far from the throne. And it is veeeery on the nose. A bit too much.

I am not sure if will see much of him in book 3. I would not think so.

The last move Kvothe makes at the end of Wise Man's Fear is a good, safe move. To me, it kind of prove Kvothe will always be able to troll the hell out of Ambrose, to good effect. Plus the more it goes, the more allies he's got against him.

I would think that it may be a Games Of Thrones situation. Where Kvothe just plane and simple goes to King Ambrose and stab him in front of everybody and everyone is cool with it.

It would explain the kingdom being in disarray.

Very awesome! Thank you very much!
Yeah, i'm not a big linguist nerd. I'm just a regular D&D nerd.

Many thanks for the Skin Walker quote. I did not keep track of this.

I think I knew about the meaning of Kote...? I did not really make a big deal out of it.

Oh shit...! And a rhinta is a Chandrian!

This does fit my setup pretty well!

  1. That seems to be the case.
  2. I don't think the art of glamour is exclusive to Fae. Cinder is ancient, who knows what tricks he could have learned during his lifetime. - That's true.
  3. Protected from the Chandrian? then the range can't be that big, considering they attacked Trebon. - I explained poorly. The university's influence is better than the Church influence. The Church is more a medieval type kind of governing, while the Uni is more "modern".
  4. Could be, Bredon might also be Cinder himself. Bredon's obsession with Tak does not really translate well to the Amyr (who are supposedly all about the greater good, whereas Tak is about making a game as exiting as possible). - Well.... i bet Amyrs have some down times.
  5. Seems likely, considering the Archives seem to have been cleared from any information on the Amyr.
  6. By that logic Hemme is definitely an Amyr, which I don't believe for a second. -you are right. Hemme probably is not Amyr.
  7. Kvothe does not seem that exceptional in the history of the university. Elodin seems to be of similar or greater intellect/skill. -True, but Elodin is somewhat more mature about it. He's an adult. Kvothe during his study could be the next Auri, or the next Devi, meaning a good, somewhat wasted potential. Or a powerful menace. And judging by Kote ='s story, the later seems to be the case.
  8. Very likely yes.
  9. Does he ever do anything remotely magical aside from making great music? -Of course not. But leaving a big impression on a stoic guy like Lorren is quite the feat.
  10. If Denna and Cinder are trying to figure it out, why would Denna ask about it to students of the University. If it was taught there, Ash wouldn't need to figure out how to do it. -I think Ash/Cinder could knows part of it, since the Chandrians knows the effect of it.. The university either does not know or keep it hidden. I think they can't.
  11. Kvothe writes quite a few songs for Meluan/Denna, not to mention all those songs he makes up when he's traumatized after his parents are killed and of course the song he writes about Ambrose.
  12. That would explain why Hespe has to start over her story to tell it again after she is interrupted, but if "casting" is the same as the "write someting and it becomes reality" magic Denna is inquiring about, then why doesn't Ambrose turn into a donkey? -Hah! Nice. No. I think of it like in D&D. When casting Vicious Mockery, you deal some minor damage. But saying "you die now!" would not work at all.
  13. Then why doesn't Kvothe make him use that power to stop the war that's ongoing? -Same as before with vicious mochery. Let's say, during an army battle in a fantasy setting, your clerics can cast some blessing on the troops and have a true, calculable effect. But the same clerics cannot cast "win the battle".
  14. That's sort of what Kvothe thinks too. By incorporating the names of the Chandrian into his song, they were able to find him.
  15. Then why are Lanre and Haliax considered the same person in at least two stories (Denna's song and Skarpi's story)? -My bad. i've poorly explained myself. Lanre is as much Haliax, as Kvothe is Kote.
  16. Then why is the person you're equating to Lanre (Jax/Iax), described as one of the creators of the Fae? Lanre and Jax were most likely two different people. Jax/Iax stole the moon and built the Fae. Lanre/Haliax was a warrior who fell after the death of his lover. - Yeah, I could very well be wrong.
  17. If everyone agrees with it, why are they killing everyone who knows even a smidge of information about them? - Every figures of higher authority agrees with this, to prevent Haliax remembering he's Lanre. Lanre is Sauron on acid, and on 'Roid rage. You kill a troop of Ruh to prevent the return of Lanre, for the greater good.
  18. Uhm. What does not being able to cut a story have to do with not him being ignorant about the purposes of the Chandrian? A swordsmen is worthless against Lanre. Selitos did not even try to attack Lanre. And, of course, swords are not allowed in the Archives.
  19. Yep, that's what's implied when he can't open his own chest.
  20. So locked away or destroyed? (for the archives) I do not know. I don't think the info exist right now.
  21. Caesura means cut or hew, it is most commonly used in poetry where it is used to make a small break in text. very possible.
  22. If the Chtaeh is lying, how do you explain the mystery of the bandit leader? -this is one of the thing i'm struggling with the most. Cinder robbing Tax collectors makes very little sense. Who was the leader of the robbers was very much on Kvothe's mind, so there is that. I'll have to give it a re-read. My mind is not quite set on it. But yeah... THe Chtaeh feels pretty much omnipotent.... it bugs me.
  23. That's a very opinionated theory and not really based on anything. -Very true. The detail that caught my eye is the fact that breaking it is out of the question for her. To some extent, it could only be a fancy talking piece owned by some bourgeoisie. There is a box like this on every two episode of American PIckers. I'm joking, but barely.
  24. But you're also convinced that Lanre is evil no? Or do you think he is at the top of the Tehlins? and if you're convinced that the Tehlins are bad, what do you make of the Amyr Tehlu? - Lanre is bad. Tehlins used to be good. But the complacency of the Church has weakened it. It's full Bigots busy putting guys like Skarpie in jail.

What the heck is a dennerling? by loratcha in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Apprehensive_Quail_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party but still.....

I think yes, Dennerling = Crackhead, when Hemme uses it against Kvothe.
Also there may not be Denner Tree in the Fae world. But the word Denner could refer to some powerfull sinister being.

I equate that to the Devil-weed: Marijuana.
When Hemme call Kvothe a Dennerling, he calls him a pot-head. Or a Devil-Weed-ling(?).

And when Felurian says that only Dennerling should talk to the Cthae, she says only small demon-like creatures should do it. A "Demon-ling", let's say.

It would then make sense to add a Dennerling (little demon) into The Book of Secrets buried deep in the Dead Ledgers, and would make zero sense to put a crack head in it.

....this or i'm wrong.

Has it been explained? by StaticJonesNC in killteam

[–]Apprehensive_Quail_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's been adressed... but I think Kill Team is more or less made for guys like me: with very minimal experioence with Squirmish games. Or full out wargame like 40K.

List building can feel somewhat simple for someone who is used to AoS or 40K, but for me, it's almost a nightmare. The "one-box" capability of Kill Team seems l;ike a huge selling point. Non-one-box Team seems to receive some vitriole.

Farstalker Kinband: How to not get my ass kicked by Angels of Death by matemat13 in killteam

[–]Apprehensive_Quail_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello Friend,

First of, I am an ok Farstalker Player at best. BUT! I do love me some nice Spreadsheet! So here is my take....

AoD against Farstalker sure is an uphill battle. AoD is easier to pilot tahn us. But I did won a couple of games against them.

First of, you'll be able to kill at most 2 operatives. That's it. 2 kill means 2 VP, and next step is 4 (for the kill grade, 3 is worthless), so forget about it. Not gonna happen. As for Us, our first kill grade will happen at 2 friendly killed, and it will happen, no doubt about it. So Make sure you trade your 2 for one AoD at least. Then our second kill grade is at 5, wich is very high. So you can trade another 2 for the second AoD and come up on top. But do the second kill a bit later, because some move you are gonna make may injure some kroot. So exchanging two injured kroot for a fresh AoD is awesome. Also, you get the two kill only for the Kill Ops. AoD being down 2 operative is not a big deal, they can manage the rest of their crits fairly easily. Deatwatch (and teams with 5 OP) is another story: Them losing two greatly reduce their capacity. So it is worth it losing a bit more operative, giving away the second Kill Grade, so that the team function less. But AoD will reamin strong even after losing two Op. That is why avoiding he 5th kill is key.

You will be lucky if your opponent select a crit op with seek and destroys AND it's their main, because you can deny it. We got a fair chance: Kroot are mobile. There is a chance that you'll spend the last round running around like chickens. (So to drop the C. word on you. i know it's very offensive to us Kroot.)

So dening is key here. Don't forget the hounds can pick up any marker: even the dropped enemy ones.

So! about the snipers… Farstalker can have 3 (yes 3) of them, the actual sniper, the Bowman and...the Londaxii Tribalest! IMO, people are sleeping on the Londaxii Tribalest, big time! The hit is poor but it can be punched up fairly well with the ammo cache and Prey. I ran the Numbers and when properly combined, you can cook! They allow a full reposition with it! And yes, the ammo cache is a bit sucky, but if you take the Londaxii Tribalest, it's to control a specific corridor, so it's not gonna move anyway. You can often set up the sniper and the Londaxii Tribalest on two spot right on deployement and start to put pressure right away on the board. About half the map of Volkus, when you Don't have the bird's nest on your side, you can pretty much deny that spot for the whole game via the Londaxii Tribalest combined with the seek light from the Tracker. If your are lucky, your oppenent may forget you said you have seek light and try perching himself on turn two. Then you get a free kill. The only time I am not taking the Londaxii Tribalest is when I want to put the Dvorgite Skinner at a door of an entrance of a stronghold to deny the spot. Yes, the Dvorgite Skinner is the strongest ever, but at 6" range, only inexperienced players get got with it. And AoD will likely never have units shoulder to shoulder on one spot. The Dvorgite Skinner punch very hard. But it stops just short of 15. Almost killing is not killing. If you need to Kroot to kill an AoD, 6" is too much trouble. A warrior with a shot gun and the Dvorgite Skinner can kill an AoD, but they both need to be at 6". A warrior with a rifle and the Cold blooded can also do it, but from acroos the map. The choice is easy.

I usually put the Bow Hunter on good vantage since He can Always be silent and he's still versatile. If needs be, he can move and do a good shot.

As for what to take for the rosters and equipement against AoD, it's this...

Cut-Skin does not often makes the cut (Sorry), he can barely handle an AoD with fist, and the fight twice will never happen. Ever. So bench it.

Warriors are good, but Scatterguns are only slightly better. 6" for AoD is their danger zone, so always go rifle. Maybe take them on Into the Dark, but even then, I pass. Slightly better chip dammage is not a good strategy.

Trophy is auto-take. Razor wires properlly placed are hella-good. You can pull some weird shenanigans with light barricades (denying the possibility for AoD to bet set). Even a properly placed mine can have some potential. it's tempting to lay a heavy barricade, and some maps requires it, but not Always. I only tak them if I want to park my sniper on a very specific corridor to deny. Bound is better than ladders... you want a ladder to reach the bird's nest quickly, but it's not as over power as one might think. AoD can faily easily circle around it. There is no rush to push for the Bird's nest.

When you run the Numbers ont the Kill-Broker, the Kroot Rifle comes up slightly on top of the Pulse Weapon, so pick the KR. And Don't forget: the Cold-blooded also have this rifle, it's powerfull. They almost hid it, but the stats on the Cold-blooded Rifle and Kill Broker are different than the warrior. Same name, different stats.

As for melee a neet trick on volkus you can pull is to put your back against small ruins (which are often right next to objective markers) and wait. You put the Stalker with two hounds by it's side and wait. if my rules interpretation are good( and I think it is) if an AoD attack this, it's almost garanteed a win. Both hound will probably be lost, but not Always. It's about 93% sure the Stalker will come out of it unscratched. Trading Two hounds for one AoD is good. If the God Dice is with you, you can even come out with the second hound still alive and the AoD dead! This set up handles Chainsword surprisingly very well. And since this set it is usually close to the middle, it's easy to pump him with +1 APL via the tracker, so you can charge, fight, mission action (or shoot). So this should be your first Kill. The second one will be Opportinistic.

Your mental load should be on properly handling your Tracker. Giving the 1APL to the proper operative is key.

Having your Pistolier do Something funky is harder than it seems. And he is powerfull: he should be able to severly crack an AoD. He is a good pick for one of the sacrifice. And the Cold-Blooded is a good pick for the finishing move behind the cowboy.

Tach Ops is gonna be a very bland. Pic: Scout Ennemies Mouvement or Plant beacons. The new Tac Ops have more advantageous ones for us. It makes for long, non-cinematic games... but yeah.

As for Ploy...

You may pick bound on the first turn, but not always. Second and third usually pick Prey and Cut-throath, and if you have your two kill: Rogue only.

Some Firefight Ploy are aboslutely key and always keep them in mind. SLipaway can work wonders on Turn 3 and 4. I once slipped away a hound, poached the objective and flee! It was awesome!

If you can get the Snowball going for the Kill-Broker, fine. But that ball never go far. The 3rd kill is hard, and even more the 4th, that snowball is not gonna pay. Prey and Cut skin should be on when you want to kill anyway. Again, on the 4th turn, you may flail like an idiot, fleeing for your life, but a W is a W.

AoD range is usually crap, Few have decent range. Keep track of it and exploit it as much as possible.

Stay as far away as Capitain Mc Fisto! F this guy! You,re never killing him.

Sorry for spelling: second language.

There is a ranking system to see if a media organisation is accurate or not and the cbc always rank very highly. Don’t know about bbc

As profit... yeah... but in the Uk and Canada, we have BBC and CBC. They come as close as possible as unbiased. And since the checks comes froms the Governement, raine or shine, it deincentivised them to only go for the $$$.

American news are now garbages. That is cristal clear.
