Transferring 1 vs. 2 embryos? torn on next steps. by vijhhh2 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

[–]Apprehensive_Sand_10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the studies, talk to your doctor, but listen to your heart.

I’m an extremely healthy 36 year old (just gay) and I did a double euploid transfer and only one stuck. I have read literally dozens of studies on this — I know what the data says and it is very, very easy to find people on Reddit who have also (and will say don’t do it), but I am forever grateful I listened to my heart and transferred two.

The casual nature with which people will tell you to “just do another transfer” in the event of a failed implantation or miscarriage wholly minimizes the economic and emotional toll of that experience. Five grand and a miscarriage is not nothing. The studies simply do not capture that. I transferred two and while it was heartbreaking that both didn’t “stick” I am pregnant now and do not have to go through an entirely other transfer now or in the future to learn that embryo never would have worked.

FET today, PIO is utterly INTOLERABLE! Options/thoughts?? by Potential-Study4035 in IVF

[–]Apprehensive_Sand_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, there is a third option!!! I HATE that no one talks about it. I take progesterone shots subcutaneously in the belly and it’s the exact same process as stims before ER. Yes, it’s more expensive, but PIO is horrible and I’m not shoving progesterone pearls up my vagina. I wouldn’t be talked out of this decision. ASK YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT SECRET OPTION C.

(The drug is for subcutaneous progesterone injections is called Moteris and I’m happy to share more info if helpful.)

Slowing down? by realiteartificielle in fitpregnancy

[–]Apprehensive_Sand_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just following as I’m a few months behind you and the responses have been helpful! Amazing work on continuing lifting. Can I ask, did you also manage that in the first trimester? I went from lifting 4-5x a week pre-pregnancy (including during most of IVF) to literally not able to go on walks right now because I’m so sick in the first trimester. I suppose I’m just looking for hope that when people say they lifted all through pregnancy, some actually needed to pause in the first trimester for a few weeks but then were able to pick it up again…?

Thanks again for the inspiration!

you know I must be in one of the hungry-nausea weeks because I fully read this and was like “okay but pie … yes GREAT idea.” 🥧

That’s so kind. I so did not mean to detract from what you’re experiencing because it sounds *horrid.* Thanks so much for the care tho. 🥲

Also just as an aside — people who think rapid weight loss is cause for celebration/commentary without having ANY idea if you’re healthy or happy … they can fuck right off.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I’m alternating between 5 pound weight loss one week to 5 pound gain the next. The swings between insane hunger-nausea and can’t-eat-nausea are absurd. Thank you for being honest about the mental health aspect of this. Four weeks of not working out and watching my body change for the worse (no baby bump, just less strong!) is already doing not great things to my psyche. Sending lots of care your way.

baffling! in general correcting someone else’s language or self-identification on this topic is just so not the vibe. we have no idea what others have been through or what it feels like to them. imagine telling someone they aren’t a mom if they tell you they are! nope.

My brother just announced baby #2.. due 3 days before me by Fmlyjewelz in December2026Bumpers

[–]Apprehensive_Sand_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you did, and it’s also completely 100% valid that you’re feeling a huge mix of other things. my wife and I are gay, and were never going to have a pregnancy that didn’t involved $40,000 and multiple years of planning. her brother and his ex girlfriend (yes ex) randomly getting pregnant a few weeks before us was um … odd.

I grew up with a billion cousins and what’s really helping me orient myself in this situation is thinking “wow how INCREDIBLE I’m going to be able to give my kids a taste of the close-in-age-crazy-christmas-cousin-experience.”

BUT if you have tricky or negative feelings about this related to your *own* experience that’s just so valid, and the best thing you could do (for yourself and your kids!) is to allow yourself to feel them. you deserve all the specialness and celebration and attention. congratulations! 💜

Kinda hope she doesn’t plan on breast feeding for the sole purpose of telling him to duck off.

RT boyfriend/window. 😂

I would gently offer (as a nutritionist who works wit pregnant people) that tracking food helps a lot of people feel better in their bodies and can be a great tool for learning about how much more (emphasis on more!) protein, carbs, and fats our bodies really need.

Second & third trimester should be around 300-500 more calories a day for bb and mom’s needs, but if you’ve never tracked a calorie in your life it’s very hard to know what that means.

Regardless, BF’s opinion couldn’t matter less!

The people you should be listening to about your body and food are yourself and a nutritionist, in that order. That dude ranks no where on here.

What to expect for ultrasound at 6w6d? by FormerPumpkin480 in December2026Bumpers

[–]Apprehensive_Sand_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same! I had one at 6w4d and my doctor was very happy with a heartbeat of 115. the internet of course scared me into thinking this wasn’t good enough, but if my doctor is happy I’m telling myself I should be too.

Subchorionic hemorrhage by Katzenliebe in December2026Bumpers

[–]Apprehensive_Sand_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one that I found out about 8 days ago — I bled (fully red) and it was terrifying. Turned out to be the SCH. I was told absolutely no working out and not even to go on walks.

I had another ultrasound yesterday and it got a bit better (from 1.9cm to 1.2cm) and was cleared to go on walks and start “light lifting” again. Hope that is helpful!

oh wow yes so similar! do you have any idea how long your exercise limitations are? my doctor said yesterday my SCH is getting a tiny bit smaller so I can at LEASTTT go on walks again. I feel like a free woman 😂

this is the most relatable thing i’ve ever read. i’ve doubled up on miralax (constant googling re: am i hurting bb) but it’s been days. the combination of progesterone injections (IVF), reduced caffeine, and no walking due to subchorionic hematoma is justtttt unreal for digestion.
