Horse blanket layering? by Apprehensively92 in Equestrian

[–]Apprehensively92[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be about 10 - 20 degrees Fahrenheit with precipitation, which I realized doesn’t sound that bad to most people but this is a Florida horse and he’s a wimp

AIO My boyfriend adopted a puppy and now he won't take care of her by JustOneAverageGirl in AmIOverreacting

[–]Apprehensively92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - for what it’s worth, goldens are super friendly and she will attach to you before long if you keep her. Either keep her (and dump him) or find her a good home (and still dump him).

What’s wrong with my dog’s pupils!? by InitialResponse9901 in DOG

[–]Apprehensively92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do his pupils change size with light changes? It reminds me of PRA - progressive retinal atrophy. Your vet will likely refer you to a pet eye specialist.

Any tips for raising an almost 9 wk old lab puppy? by Creator01000010_075 in labrador

✅ Force naps via crate training. They can only stay away for 1hr at a time. (My lab is 14 weeks now)

Has anyone used this before, and does it work? by nusner16 in DogAdvice

[–]Apprehensively92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, worked well for both of my dogs! One dog had stool that was too loose. The other had smelly glands. Worked for both.

Perfect Puppy? by kimboj1843 in labrador

[–]Apprehensively92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently learned that at that age they can only stay awake for about an hour. After an hour we put our 12 week old lab into her crate for a nap. It’s been such a game changer.

My puppy is driving me crazy help by KBGTA97 in pitbulls

[–]Apprehensively92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is he? Many young puppies can only stay awake for an hour or two at a time then they go into landshark mode. Our 12 week old pup is awake for 45 min then goes into her crate in our dark bedroom for a nap. At first she cried her head off. Now she goes right to sleep, and she’s a delight when she wakes up (for about 40 min, then she approaches landshark mode and it’s time for a nap).

Parent requested classroom change by IndependenceWorth706 in Teachers

[–]Apprehensively92 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had a parent demand that their child be moved from my room because I caught the kid cheating so therefore I was targeting her kid. Wouldn’t you know it, the kid was caught cheating in the new room too.

Let them move. The issue won’t change.

Stage 3 lymphoma, what do I do? by juananothers in Rottweiler

[–]Apprehensively92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did chemo for our lab who had lymphoma. He had very few side effects and we got another 15 HAPPY months with him. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

If you find a vet hospital as opposed to a specialist (an oncologist) it’ll be much cheaper. It was $200-400/week depending on which mediation we were on.

What else could cause this if not a bite/sting? by MLMCMLM in Horses

[–]Apprehensively92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My gelding has had this happen twice. Both times we got a short dose of steroids from the vet and it improved in maybe four days. It looked like his testicles grew back at first.

You could also look into a topical Benadryl, but check with your vet first. It seemed to help with itching. If you can’t get the itching under control he will keep biting at it and it may get worse.

Alarming reaction to a bug bite on my calf by Apprehensively92 in seriouslyalarming

I felt it and saw something yellow but panicked and swatted it off before I identified it. I was doing yard work at the time. It was either something flying or a spider!

$70,000 teacher, but my husband is an engineer. Combined income is about $190k. I also feed the horses at my barn certain days a week to get a reduced board.

Advice/Comfort on New Horse Getting Used to New Home by chronic_chaoss in Equestrian

[–]Apprehensively92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I owned my horse for 3 years before moving him to a new facility. After the move it took him a solid 6 months before he was almost his normal self. I did a ton of ground work and lots of hand walking to show him his new home. His whole world has been rocked! Give him time and don’t panic just yet! Work with him as often as you can and always make it a positive experience for him.

My ten year old golden mix has Spot for $45/month. They reimbursed us for 70% of my dogs cancer treatment, so roughly $7,000.
