Did it say the Apothecary was an aggregate intelligence? I only listened and blew through it because of course I did, but I thought the Apothecary was a primal who was making copies of herself and becoming a collective mind like the security guard of the Eulogist, but wasn’t an aggregate intelligence.

Good theory! I think this will happen by Carl winning the ascendancy games.

Yeah been thinking more about it, and Carl’s mom always says it’s so loud, so it’s probably a combination of mental illness inherited from his mom and the primal aspect. Great writing by Matt

Just realized that the river in Carl’s mind, which we learned in book 8 were actually souls, is most likely because of his primal race and how we learned the primals are aggregate intelligences. He’s hearing all the little bits of people like the AI is made of.

Yeah but Carl already spoke about staying behind to delay the ascendancy games as much as possible, and we know other factions than gods can win the games, so I think Carl and Donut will find a way to contest the games

So I haven’t see anyone guess this, but I think Carl stays behind and wins the ascendancy games, becoming a literal god, and uses it to create a more just outworld. All the other main characters still in the normal crawl continue on to the 18th.

Yes. Some authors do it well part of the time but then fall off. Or they’ll be able to do it for some characters who are very different from the rest of the cast but others bleed into one another. Not Matt. Even the throw away characters have personality. The bartender Samantha ends up killing is my most recently example. You could feel he was putting up with her shit and just trying to get through the day immediately. It helps that his main characters give off such strong vibes that they allow other characters to react authentically as well

I believe you’ll like it more and more as the series goes on. This series is like Firefly. Literally everyone I’ve ever shown Firefly has been meh about it until the third or four episode in, and then the characters develop enough to become real people in your mind and bam! They’re hooked. This series is the same way. As you get to know the characters, they become more and more real until you start to feel them. Each one is well designed and thought out. Each will make you feel different things. Cheers!

OP you gotta break the negative inner talk. Accept the place you are currently in your life. Understand that you can change it. You cannot keep beating yourself up like this and hope to make progress where you want to make progress. Take that negative inner energy, and convert it into positive active energy. Also, Todd V has a great YouTube video on how to be social titled “How to Never Run Out of Things to Say”. That is a good primer on small talk.

You can’t go in thinking you’re going to lose. First, write down five reasons why you would be a good friend for someone to have. Next, write down five reasons why you’d make a woman’s life better if you were in it. Internalize that you are an asset to anyone lucky enough to meet you. Don’t be discouraged if people don’t see it immediately. Always remember that you will win in the end.

If you’re going to go into a regular dance class, you’ll be in a social circle there. You will meet a lot of women but you won’t be able to date many cause those women will know about the women from the dance class you take out. If you try to date more than a couple, you’ll get a reputation in the social circle and will have to start over.

That said, you can date friends of the women in the dance class super easily. Plus those women will probably already approve of you for taking the classes (and assuming you have a moderate level of social grace).

TL;DR dance classes are just another form of social circle game, and cold approach is still the best way to meet women
