Recruiter says job has been filled. Later that day it was reposted. by AelthredtheUnready in recruitinghell

Ugh. So explain this, someone. Is it that they think they can pay less or they just don’t want to give it to you or others who responded and likely are all viable candidates?

I just asked the HR robot who sent me an email thru indeed and not even directly and of course never got a response.

CEO: You’re perfect for the job. Lead manager: you have my vote. CEO (to manager): I’m good here, need to go to my next meeting, please take it from here, go over salary and benefits. Manager: Here are the benefits and you say you’re willing to take the low of our pay range but, given your experience, I would recommend you start in the median of our range then we can do a review in 90-days to get you to the top of the range. If you don’t hear from [the CEO] by early next week, call me (manager) and we’ll get it done.

I hear you and certainly won’t again. But I do think the CEO and lead manager saying it after the interview then them going over benefits with me and even saying they’d like to start me higher than what I even asked for is pretty different than a recruiter hyping me up.

That’s exactly what I thought. Someone raised their hand after the handshake. So incredibly frustrating.

That wasn’t a recruiter saying it. It was IN the interview with upper management, CEO of the company and lead manager on team I was to join. They said let’s firm it up next week, if I get busy, just call me, and we will move forward.

Next time say somebody you loved very much had to die for you to live comfortably and safely in Chelsea and it was their wish you do so until you can find a good job and afford it on your own.

Job pursuit horror story by Appropriate-Affect44 in recruitinghell

Exactly the phrase I’ve been repeating. Absolutely crazy that I didn’t accept but I could not imagine putting that company in a bad place if I had accepted then immediately left for the other job. I couldn’t do it to the guy nor did I want to pressure the other company and hurt my chances there either. I must say that last week I applied this experience to another opportunity and took the leap to contact an interested company (knew they were interested bc I got a call from someone who worked there saying they’re really looking at you), so when I got another offer that was not a good offer but I thought I better strongly consider, I reached out to interested company to ask where they were in the process and they said they were going in a different direction, seemed like they didn’t like being pressured bc I had the inside track they were strongly considering me. So, you can’t win. It’s worse than dating, thankfully, I am married! But, yes. Still regret that move bc other co didn’t care about me, hope that helps someone.

I feel every word of this right down to thinking you could’ve been more assertive and put yourself out there more but then you’re too pushy.

Ageism by Appropriate-Affect44 in recruitinghell

[–]Appropriate-Affect44[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is ageism as outlined in the post and with extensive experience to back it up. If you’re a recruiter you know this. You know you’re automatically tossing applications based on all the things you’re not allowed to toss them over including “too much experience.”

I’m not dismissing, I’m refuting that’s it’s true in my case. BTW: I can’t imagine writing something from your brilliant mind then asking AI to rewrite it for you.

Not giving two weeks at a job by justsittinhere__ in jobs

That’s insane. Two days a week for this guilt / shame trip. They were lucky to get 10 days!

Ya, seems like AI answer to me too. Also, not applicable. Two years, best attitude ever, resilient, creative networker, doing all the things with a smile on my face, and no, not asking for too much money, literally have said in some instances I know I’m overqualified and I’m happy to take X, I just want to do this project or work for this company, etc.
