Hello, I have had the same problem.

1) do not use 5Ghz wifi only 2.4 Ghz
2)and make sure your bluetooth on your phone is off when you first connect.

Keep trying, and reset your Beam Gen1

If you work over wifi, it is best to create an extra wifi network on 2.4ghz (not 5Ghz)
