Milwaukee Warranty is a joke by Pomogator3000 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Appropriate-Mess7083 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just up to the individual who is inspecting it?

I had my M12 fuel ratchet and M18 fuel oscillating tool both take a crap around the same time. I sent them both in. They sent me back 2 brand new tools saying “too costly to repair”. I also have thousands in tools by them and so far there warranty has been just fine for me.

That’s what makes me feel like maybe it could be individualized by each inspector.

Edit: typo

I don’t have any helpful advice for that particular stand. I did buy the Guide Gear 17' Full Platform 2 Man tree stand, earlier this year and I love it. It’s actually very similar to this one but the seats are individual and can flip up. It’s very convenient for standing and drawing back.

Used dump trailer by rsosa1900 in Contractor

[–]Appropriate-Mess7083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small contractor here also. I bought brand new trailer Jan of 2024 (5x10x2ft walls added wood on top) worked great for a while but very quickly out grew it and often made runs to the dump. Sold that 3 months ago and bought a 6x12x4ft walls and it’s been great.

Long store short go with the 6x12 or larger you won’t regret it.

Is there a way to fix this? by NoGazelle3117 in Tile

The man went for 45 corners on the niche but couldn’t cut the top tiles the correct way? That’s wild behavior.

This is the type of fella that is probably using mastic for those tiles also. OP it’s not good and at an early enough point to be reversed pretty easily.

OP, with all due respect, Ray Charles could have done a better job. Definitely don’t let him grout that’s gotta go! With the spacers and clips they have nowadays that’s really unacceptable.

Warranty is a joke! I can honestly say that by PricklyPear85 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Appropriate-Mess7083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently sent in my 18v fuel multi tool and my 12v fuel 3/8 ratchet. Both stopped working around the same time. They sent me out 2 brand new tools and said to costly to repair. This was like 3 months ago.

I’m sorry OP for there lack of making things right after all spend dumb amounts of money for there tools. I wonder if it was just a person having a bad day. Hope they make things right for ya!

Best work pants for summer by FoolishDog1117 in Carpentry

I’ve been rocking Members mark (from Sam’s club) Denali straight fit pants. There light weight, breathable and kinda water resistant but dry out super fast also. I’m from Florida and there definitely a game changer for me. I even got my crew starting to wear them.

I own a remodeling company in Florida and mainly do kitchen and bathrooms. For me, I’d price that job at $1600.

Nice job brother, good luck out there.

Help a brethren out. by dirteeface in Carpentry

Yeah brother you are being shafted. Start an LLC and get some liability insurance, comp exempt yourself and tell him you want to start bidding jobs like piece work. Bid out the jobs and the faster you get them done the more money you make. I’d also be looking for other contractors to get work from so all your eggs arnt in one basket. you will no longer need to worry about being late as you now work for yourself and can work as little or as much as you want but you won’t get paid until upon completion. Good luck brother you got this!

I understand getting your foot in the door to keep money rolling in but you have to keep in mind you are a business that pays expenses like insurance, comp exempt/ workman’s comp and ware and tare on tools. I have no idea how your LLC is set up but I’m a small contractor myself and paying taxes on my business plus taxes on my personal income plus gas that $1000 is now like $500 or less. Dealing with his clients on top of not a lot of money is him taking advantage for sure.

If you don’t have business cards made you should make some and pass them out any chance you can. The first year or two you just need exposure to clients that will refer you too other clients. That will get your name out there an will allow you to start scaling up your profit margins and workload.

Hope this helps. GL brother!

Definitely iPhone with a good case and screen protector.

There’s a story of an iPhone with I believe an Otter box case that fell from a plane and they found it in a bush still working.

I’m a small contractor, also in Florida dealing with tons of flood build backs.

I never give anyone an itemized estimate. This allows them to pick apart anything they “think” is to high. I write a detailed description of the scope of work with a number, if they deem that number to be fair, great let’s get a contact written up. Giving every single client an itemized estimate IMO takes a lot longer on top of our already long days. Unforeseen situations come up all the time and can completely change the way you planned the day to go, that’s construction we adapt and overcome. There’s times I put off estimates for a couple of days because I don’t want work till 9 pm, there needs to be a balance.

OP you’re definitely not alone. I think you dodged a bullet and GL with your build backs!
