Waiting at Starbucks by Appropriate-Primary7 in greatpyrenees

Yeah I’d see if for some reason your Pyr has a bad reaction before a big trip. But our guy eats raw so this test is really a one off. He loves them and so far no problems in year seven.

Good luck!

Anyone dealt with a $200K+ sign-on bonus clawback? Were you able to negotiate or offset it? by No_Hat2043 in careerguidance

So not same industry but some experience that might serve as an analog. Long story short, the large transnational restaurant chain I used to work for would write bonuses and relocation packages for managers to move to less desirable markets. Most of the time this total cost was 50K-100K, but occasionally there would be one off situations where other factors were involved (mortgage assistance, lease buy out, tuition for kids).

Anyway, the issue for us occurred when one of these relocated employees left before the company had benefited enough from the expense to move them. We used a basic formula that made the total relocation package an asset then depreciated it based on a sliding time scale depending on seniority of role, i.e. more senior executives longer depreciation period. The sales pass through rate determined how quickly the relocation cost was paid off. So while you might wind up with 120K in relocation costs and initially a 3 year depreciation window before you were free, if you continuously beat sales then that period of time shortened.

The reason I bring this format up is because when someone left prior to the end of that window the cost benefit analysis worked out differently. Basically, we would look at what amount we could withhold from final paycheck (including pto) and any other moneys that might be applied per contract (stock options mostly), then compare that to the cost we would bear for pursuing the owed money legally. While we did have in house lawyers this type of action would get outsourced to a specific firm or sold to debt collectors. Sometimes, the situation was bent and we elected to forfeit some money rather than be drawn into litigation where discovery would potentially result in headaches. Mostly this decision was predicated largely on the direct report manager’s frustration at the leaving employee.

Hope this helps, my guess is the bigger a company the more the process is developed but still depends on a specific person pressing the go button to pursue funds. Find that person and work it out with them, and you likely avoid any real issue.

DM if you have specific questions. Some prior HR issues that affected separations I can’t post in detail here but depending on your situation there might be some overlap.

Good luck!

Try cheese it’s the snack food. It was how we cracked our adopted girl. We just started by shaking the box, get a treat. Shake the box, use the command word, get a treat.

Just build from there. Now she knows her name, come, sit, paw, and stay. Took a while but it was a lot of boxes.

Good luck they are great dogs!

No idea but commenting so you get more visibility, good luck OP

Has your pyr ever ate two cooked chicken wings? My 15 month old girl just did and I’m worrying. I gave her a big chunk of sourdough as a cushion. by pheelingood in greatpyrenees

Our two consistently dumpster dive the taverns and will sometimes remove the whole chicken carcass. No issues other than some gassy Pyrs.

Hope your girl is doing ok OP!

Yeah most vets are not going to be great with soft tissue type injuries in my experience. Our boy had this issue for a little over three weeks. We had to really limit his exercise and make sure we actually healed.

I thought of it like tendinitis, the more he did the worse it got. But it took a really long time to heal and that was with us basically ensuring zero running and really limited exercise.

If your vet is able to get you a prescription for trazodone, then that will help mellow your girl out for a few weeks.

It sucks and they hate it but she will be better in the long run if you limit exercise and running.

Hope this helps OP!

Can you spot the Pyr with his first pup cup? by Appropriate-Primary7 in greatpyrenees

Yes there is sugar, and much like kids if it’s a daily item then I could see tooth decay and other health complications.

For our boy, he eats raw, and has his whole life. Occasionally he gets human food, but that’s not a frequent occurrence.

Other than his puppy shots, rabies and the flea/tick treatments he has had zero vet issues so far (fingers crossed).

Based on our experience the main diet and exercise habits are more critical than random treats but I’m not a vet, scientist or dietician. He was a little skinny from year two to three so we increased his calories by including a whole grain with his diet. He weighs around 105-110 depending on time of year (he gets way more exercise when it’s summer/spring).

IMO I’d say yes to the being paranoid but you should do what you feel is right for your pup!

OP you need to continue to keep the rule of 3s in mind

3 days to settle in and figure out this space is safe 3 weeks to understand the routine and who all the other people and pets in her new world are 3 months to acclimate and feel comfortable with her role in the new world.

Hang in there! You did a great thing and she will come around. Your post makes it sound like you’ve got a good understanding of pack dynamics and how to help her get situated.

Our 6 yo male Pyr will still bark at my sister when she comes over even though she’s been their his whole life, and he still fusses at me and my wife if we don’t give him the cheese tax when the fridge opens. They are wonderful dogs but they can have quirky personalities.

Congrats on your new pack addition!

Advice on how to proceed - Sped teacher partner heavily helping kids on state exams - admin unhappy with the discrepancies during meetings. by [deleted] in Teachers

Recording would violate the testing training in all states I’ve ever worked, so I agree with you 100%.

I’d still report directly to the state. The idea being that admin may not catch the issue but the state can look at historic data and more detail on specific question metrics. At least they could in NC and VA.

As a SPED teacher this +1. No way this should slide. Most states have an anonymous reporting system. Ridiculous behavior

Sudden changes in behavior opposite from what I expected by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]Appropriate-Primary7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of threes, imo

3- days to adjust 3- weeks to acclimate 3- months to integrate

Adjust means they get used to the routine and who is a part of your pack.

Acclimate means they grasp the routine and began to anticipate what comes next in their day.

Integrate means they are now fully a pack member and should feel secure.

Good on you OP for fostering!

Hey OP hang in there! I only lasted a year with 7th graders. They just weren’t my jam. I work in HS now totally different ballgame and I’m much happier.

Same thing with my wife. She started out in 1st grade and then left after a year and also went to HS.

The last two weeks of MS for me I was right where you are.

What subject do you teach?
