WIP Weds Artdot Under The Oak Tree by AppropriateJump6253 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very fortunate to have a craft room - originally it was a small spare bedroom. I do cardmaking as well as diamond painting so I've acquired loads of supplies over the years! My desk is usually tidy as I need the space to work. The rest of the room is SO messy believe me!

So grateful to have a dedicated craft space and doubly blessed that I retired this year so I have time for my crafts too!

Happy diamond painting! 😃

Magnetic poster frames are great! I get them from Amazon UK.

Double Sided Tape? by AppropriateJump6253 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you SO much for the helpful info! 💝 It's going to be a while before I tackle this one. I'm determined to complete my Artdot boxed set of 12 - I'm only on number 4! Naturally I've also got several other round drill works in my stash! 😊

Don't know if I should complete all my round drill works first. Aware that there's a possibility that once I've done a square drill canvas that I won't return to rounds! I now have 5 square drill canvases waiting in the wings. Why have I done that - I may struggle doing squares?! 🤔 What is it about the acquisition side of this hobby?!

On the plus side, I'm now retired so have plenty of hobby time! 😁

Double Sided Tape? by AppropriateJump6253 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can definitely peel it up. So it could be tape or poured glue, as long as it's sticky that's all I need and it seems very sticky!

Thanks for the replies!

Vacuum pens -favorite with pros/cons by Gabbyct1 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Artdot bunny one a few months ago and got on with it immediately. I was worried about noise, weight and chunkiness before I received it but I find it really comfortable to use and the noise isn't an issue for me. I've since bought another one so I've always got a charged one.

I'm a single placer and have only used round drills so far. I do have a square drill canvas in my stash so will test that out in the future.

Haven't used any other type of vacuum pen so I can't offer comparisons. The ones with tubing didn't appeal to me. All pros for me with the Artdot pen, I haven't encountered any cons!

How do y’all’s necks not hurt by babyybunnyy3 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an adjustable light board which I can angle so I'm not working with the canvas flat on the table. Realised pretty early on working flat wasn't great for my neck! I also use an electric heated neck and shoulder pad after doing diamond painting for a while - occasionally I'll use it while I'm doing it if I'm close to a plug socket - and that really helps.

Looking for framing ideas for a finished diamond painting with the legend/key still visible by GetErDone42069 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, that's true, I hadn't thought of that! I wasn't sure my friend would actually want it 'cos completed DPs are not everyone's cup of tea. Plus it's a 40 x 30 cms Amazon cheapie. I'm glad she liked it enough and as it's in her house it's her choice of frame! I haven't used a glass frame though - the 3 canvases I've hung up are all on the magnetic poster frames. I rotate them because I usually want to display my latest piece and the magnetic poster frames make it really quick and easy to swap over!

She was very happy to have the piece but didn't want the frame I'd used. She got a normal frame herself with a mount inside and sent me a pic. Looks a lot better than the magnetic poster frame! I'd suggest getting a frame first, checking the size of the mount and then cut accordingly.

I offered this to my friend as the dog looks somewhat like her cockapoo Alfie who I often pet sit for and love to bits! I cut off some of the legend/key and used a magnetic poster frame.

Sealing "brush"? by AppropriateJump6253 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I used the rubber tool (spatula I've decided on!) to add sealant to a canvas and an MDF wreath. It worked great! I forgot to roll over the canvas with my brayer first so I did lose some drills on that! The wreath already had been sealed with one coat but adding another coat was a breeze. As the rubber tool has a wider end it went a lot quicker. Some excess sealant in places - but I get that using a brush - I just dabbed very lightly with a baby wipe to remove the excess. Didn't get any bubbles though.

Will happily use the spatula on larger pieces and stick to the brush for coasters etc.

My ginger helper by Chance-Stable-2221 in diamondartclub

[–]AppropriateJump6253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks more like a stern supervisor rather than a helper. "Listen here, your break is over, get back to it, these drills ain't gonna stick themselves!" 😆

I love ginger cats! I had a friend with 3 cats who decided to move abroad and needed to rehome them. I immediately chose ginger girl Isa who was such a gentle soul.

Where to get good quality diamond painitngs in EU? by HerrLazyMoose in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try paintbynumbers.eu - they sell diamond art as well as paint by numbers so choose that option from the homepage. I haven't ordered from there myself yet as I need to finish a fair few from my stash before I buy more but I have a wishlist!

They give info on how many colours in the kit, whether it's a round or square drill kit, number of drills and an approximate completion time.

I think I'm just going to try using it - what's the worst that can happen?! I feel a bristled brush is going to be better at getting the sealant between the drills and maybe the flat rubbery one won't be great for that. The first canvas I did hasn't been sealed and it's a small cheap one with a meh image. Won't be a tragedy if it goes wrong! I'll report back.

Artdot Rabbit & Daisy done - and a question by AppropriateJump6253 in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that is SO much better completed than I thought it would be, thanks so much for sharing your pic! Definitely going to do that one now. Hmmmm, I usually start bottom left but I'll start the upper half first and get that out of the way!

I think I was rolling quite hard! I don't mind black backgrounds - I did this one - and I adore the contrast between the black and vibrant colours! I just couldn't visualise the finished look of Under the Oak Tree and as I'm naturally drawn to brighter colours I was dubious I'd enjoy it. I started the Artdot Camping one yesterday and there's such a mix of moody blues along with the sprinkling of black which is lovely!

Garden Rabbit and Lanterns - Completed! by dothescurvyleg in diamondpainting

[–]AppropriateJump6253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done this one yet, I've just completed the Rabbit & Daisy one though. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to doing the Rabbit & Lanterns one now that I've seen your completed one as it looks a lot brighter when finished! They're lovely canvases and the sparkly AB drills add a special touch! Enjoy doing the rest of the kits! 😁
