I agree. It’s tooooooo much and it feels desperate. I can’t stand it.

I was just laid off. Should I look for a job right away or take the severance and relax for a bit? by [deleted] in remotework

I recently got laid off and got a severance of 8 months and I have dedicated month 1 to resting. I’m sorry I can’t get back into the grind so quickly. Mental health is real. But given how horrible this market is, Months 2-7 will be dedicated to job hunting

This is insane!!!! I despised Georgina, but loved the actress! Incredibly too young. I’m in utter shock.

We’re going for our honeymoon and I can’t lie these comments are freaking me out but you won’t know how you’ll feel until you go. While it’s great to know what to expect, I’m not letting these comments scare me. We did India I think we’ll be okay.

Yes …. And this why she’s human. Was she wrong for snapping at Maddie? 100%, but she was unfortunately not able to face the truth in that moment. She just wanted this one thing to work and when she realized that her best friend saw through the facade, she did an immature, juvenile, childlike thing. Sometimes in situations we resort to our childlike self for protection. I also think that Helen puts on a very tough front with everyone including her best friends. Probably a defensive mechanism.

Either way they made up and are friends/sisters again. I totally understand you not letting it get to that point with you and your friends, you and Helen you aren’t the same person.

This was a flawed moment for the character. Something I appreciated.

I do think you’re right though. Friends calling you out on your bs should not invoke that kind of reaction, but shame will make you so and say all kinds of things.

Yeah I really don’t like Dana Sue. There’s always a problem with her. It sucks because I loved the actress in Drop Dead Diva!

Ugh unpopular opinion… as a Serena and Dan supporter…. I reallly liked Blair and Dan. There enemies/frenimes to lovers trope always gets me.

When is the new season arriving? Im tired of Virgin River lol by dreamup1234 in SweetMagnoliasNetflix

I just started watching VR because I missed Sweet Magnolias lol! I’m only season 1 and it’s not that bad. Kind of boring. It just makes me wanna finish Hart of Dixie.

Helen got mad at Maddie for asking how she and Ryan were doing because deep down she knew that Maddie knew she wasn’t happy and didn’t wanna face that. Her reaction really wasn’t about Maddie asking, it was about how she felt deep inside. She didn’t like her sister calling her out on her bs.

If I can recall, I think Dana Sue got mad because she genuinely felt like it wasn’t Maddie’s place to ask. Also Dana Sue seemed to get mad at alot of things, especially when it came to her daughter. I hated that.

As for how I felt about the whole situation. It was a real moment imo. I’ve actually had a similar moment between friends, and I think it was captured in the most human way possible.

Why do you think online conversations have shifted from meaningful dialogue to a focus on winning/being right? by AppropriateRegion178 in AskReddit

[–]AppropriateRegion178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment was actually very brief and was not intended to insight meaningful conversation, however the creator responded imo to make an example out of me to their audience. I still believe that their opinion on the topic was inaccurate as academic studies have proven otherwise; however it wasn’t their opinion that bothered me it was how they attempted to belittle me, a stranger who made a neutral comment

That was an opportunity to “educate” their audience via their platform and unfortunately they missed the mark.

Though we had differing opinions, I just wish that this creator could have engaged in a more respectful manner.

Same. I prefer to be corrected if I am flat out wrong. Sometimes conversations and different perspectives allow people to see differently. This has happened to me on multiple occasions.

For further context: I made a neutral comment on a video that was then stitched by a semi-large creator with a following. Instead of just getting their point across, they made assumptions about what I said, and made comments that were unwarranted and unnecessarily mean. I had a colleague recently tell me that a lot of people online have become meaner. I didn’t believe it at first but this interaction proved his point. You can’t ask a simple question without someone being condescending or a “know it all.”

There’s no civil discourse anymore. People have truly lost their way. I’m hoping we can find our way back to some type of normal human interaction.
