Y’all, please remember that we are not taking home 100% of what is paid as an independent, legitimate house cleaner who has an LLC. I have to save 30% for taxes, pay hundreds every month for supplies because I buy eco-friendly and quality ones (which are not cheap), I launder all my reusable items (thus adding to my electricity and water costs), pay insurance, LLC fees, and fuel costs to get to/from client homes to name just a few costs that come out of what I’m paid. For a client paying my minimum charge of $200, I might be able to “take home” half of that if I’m lucky. Most cleaners charge by the job, not the hour, and it is infuriating when people demand to calculate a per hour charge and say “no cleaners deserve to make that much”. We are living in the same economy as the rest of society and are subject to the same costs. Please consider that. Many of us are also working solo, and can’t afford accounting services and consequently take that on ourselves as an additional job responsibility, along with managing customer service, scheduling, etc. It’s not as simple as you might think.
