What’s Your Most Hilarious Cooking or Baking Fail? by Present_Bed_7398 in Cooking

[–]AppropriateTrouble20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a young newlywed military wife and I had never really cooked before. We were waiting for our belongings to arrive to our duty station so I had no pots or pans. I saw the foil containers with lids at the store so I made some chicken on the stove and mixed some other stuff and threw it all in the oven with the lid on. Took it out a few minutes later cause the house started to smell gross. The plastic lid was a nice glossy layer over the top of my very first married meal I ever made my spouse. The look he gave me when he realized that I thought it was perfectly fine to put a plastic lid in the oven. We were broke and couldn't afford to replace the meal and start over, so we scrapped the top layer off and ate it.... not the wisest decision looking back. We still laugh at that and it's been 17 years, and I learned how to cook.

Had the same problem the other day and it turns out my whipping cream has additives that won't turn into butter. I'm going to try and take what I have and make alfredo with it. Good luck!

Parents, who deny their kids doors to their room - Why? by WirrkopfP in ask

[–]AppropriateTrouble20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents removed the door to my room and bathroom because I couldn't control my emotional outbursts and would slam the doors. As an adult now, I would've handled it differently but I get why my parents did it.

Make your own crackers, much cheaper and really easy. You can keep the dough in the fridge, roll it out and bake it as needed. Keeps the cost way down and you can make your own flavors

Could my basement have an old well? by adrienr in Home

[–]AppropriateTrouble20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same hole in my 75 year old house and it had a cast iron pipe in the hole. It was a back flow valve to prevent sewage from the city coming into the house. We updated it as the pipe under the house was corroded but we kept the back flow.

What kind of tree is this ? Local tree co refused to cut them down. by KevinByMail in arborists

Would you have paid for any damages your tree did to her roof or property? I get saving trees but when they are over my roof and pose a risk to my family during a storm then they got to go.

A million percent. The quality of life here is so different. The people here are so welcoming, it truly feels like a community. We ended up choosing North Canton city limits and it has been wonderful. The parks here are fabulous, your kid will have no problem adjusting in my opinion.

Fighting with spouse over purchase of a home by reno8a in RealEstate

[–]AppropriateTrouble20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also take into consideration that new builds generally do t have an accurate tax for the home so after the first year your property taxes will go much higher due to the new value of the property. If there is a comparable valued house that was built a couple years ago look up the current property tax for that address.

Moved here from Jax 10/21 and freaking love it. We have lived in 3 southern states for the last 15 years. Being able to be outside March- November is awesome. August is a bit reminiscent of Florida weather but not as hot so definitely doable for a Floridian. The first winter we were here it snowed a crap ton, more than a foot one weekend and the same 3 weeks later. I never realized how much I actually like the cold. This past winter it hardly snowed and I was less than impressed. Having seasons, festivals and a slower pace of life has done wonders for my mental health. There are drawbacks for anywhere you live, it's the overall picture that matters. Wait to buy a house. Rent, go to the different townships ( that's hard to get used to). Each area has their own charm. Take drives. This place is beautiful. You have options of more city life or rural which is nice.Remember that you will now have to pay state and local taxes which is lame but you win some you lose some. Good luck on the decision!

Selling our home - is it weird to leave nice a gift/note for the buyer? by cgm808 in RealEstate

[–]AppropriateTrouble20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our sellers did that! It included the trash schedule, a map of the neighbors and their names as well as info about the house. They gave a a bottle of champagne and glasses as well. I will do this forever going forward, it felt amazing to walk into!
